Rag & Bone Goetz Print Legging and Current Elliott Leopard Jeans

I know I’ve seen these before, but you always want what you can’t have, right? Now that these have been out of stock for about a year, NOW I covet them. Although, it took me a little while to expand my tastes to printed jeans. For $225 though, I’m not sure if I would have invested in them. But my eyes are now glued to my good friend by the name of eBay…

American Eagle did a pretty good job segwaying me from solid to print when it comes to pants (I have 2 of their printed jeggings, and I have my eyes on one right now — use the zoom to see the pattern!). I often found most printed jeans a bit gaudy, but that’s probably because most of them had huge, flowery patterns which is a bit too girly for me. Then came Current Elliott with their Leopard skinny jeans, which I didn’t like at first…and then I fell for their blue version as well as that of the Snap Jacket (see below) which are almost impossible to find on eBay now. Then came Level99 a few weeks ago with the Janice Ultra Skinny in Moon that I blogged about earlier, and I was hooked. I liked them because they were more subtle, but the Rag & Bones aren’t very subtle…*shrugs* Anyway, I’ve grown a liking to wearing statement jeans, with something flowy and neutral up top.

The Beautiful Dark Underground

Demobaza, where have you been all my life? I just ran across this brand that reminded me just how much I still love goth-inspired (actually screw it, this isn’t goth-inspired, this IS goth…) looks even though I might not dress the part anymore. For those that know, I was quite the little goth girl in high school. However I still like the same music, the same apparel…my tastes are simply expanded! You rarely see these types of fashions strutting down the runways, although brands like Diesel and Sass & Bide definitely pull from it. It definitely seems to have its own loud, yet quiet, underground.

Ugh, just look at these? How COOL is this brand…it’s so Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. In fact, it reminds me of Trish Summerville‘s capsule collection for H&M inspired by everything she designed for the movie, which I LOVED, but was too late to snag anything from (hello, eBay, I’m watching you). She’s gone on to design the getups seen in Catching Fire, as well. Dream job. How does a style genre not made up by any shades other than black and grey (and my favorite, dark maroon) end up being so versatile? Kind of like jeans, I guess…something simple, made into 334543534 versions of awesome. I think that’s part of the appeal, at least to me.

Closed Striped Patchwork Jeans At My Doorstep

Closed Patchwork Jeans

So I blogged about these not long ago as well as some of their zipped styles…then again on Denimology, and now I have them in my hands courtesy of the brand! Sweet! I cannot wait to review these! They are so much fun! I wasn’t sure if I wanted to wear them all day at work (since sitting in a chair for hours on end might end up proving uncomfortable with all the seams inside the legs) but they are more comfortable than they look. I’m going to wear them out and about to see how they hold up and then write up a Denimology review! The jeans also came with a beautifully bound lookbook and huge magazine-style catalog showing beautiful model shots, the details of several intricate denim finishing processes (lasering, sand blasting, hand-finishing, etc, it’s fascinating), places to visit in Frankfurt and much more…Closed was born in Italy in 1978, but currently resides in Germany. It’s obvious they put a lot of thought into what they do.

Closed has already pulled me in. I am a fan! Check out some of their other styles below that I am currently eyeing.

Innovative Clocks by Studio Ve

Studio Ve Clocks

Innovative Clocks by Studio Ve

My hubby and I still don’t have a clock up on our living room wall, or anywhere in our house for that matter. It’s been a subject of conversation many times upon multiple visits to World Market and Target, yet the idea hasn’t actually come to fruition. Not that it’s a necessary staple of the household, but we know it would make a nice decor piece. The only thing that comes close is a clock I constructed in seventh-grade plastics shop class. I remember those days exactly…being mocked while I cut out triangles of various sizes out of opaque white, transparent neon yellow and transparent neon pink plastic sheets, promising that they would, indeed, form a clock in the very near future. It all ended up coming together (which made everyone eventually shut their traps), and it lives on today, sitting in my kitchen (although it does need new batteries).

I guess it’s things like that that catch my attention…the unusual, the creative, the things that were probably laughed at in their idea stages only to leave everyone in awe upon completion. I came across this brand called Studio Ve as I perused my usual morning inbox, as part of a newsletter from The Grommet. Now these are the kinds of clocks I’d see on my walls…pieces of art…items that don’t immediately look like clocks upon first gaze. Do want.

Studio Ve has three models right now:

The Manifold Clock

Studio Ve Manifold Clock

Studio Ve Manifold Clock

“Time repeats itself, yet it is ever-changing. The Manifold Clock is aimed to emphasize exactly this property of time – ever changing yet remains the same.” I’m not exactly sure how to better explain this one. It’s just cool and clever. Read more/shop for it here or shop the Grommet sale here!

The Lithe Clock

Studio Ve Lithe Clock

Studio Ve Lithe Clock

This one lives up to its name…and looks as graceful as a reed blowing in the wind or a ballet dancer. I could see this one above our couch! Read more/purchase here.

The Perspective Clocks

Studio Ve Perspective Clocks

Studio Ve Perspective Clocks

This one just looks freakin’ cool. There are several variations to this one in terms of this one, each focusing more on the hands than the actual face of the clock. Throughout the day, the hands form different angular shapes. See all the variations/read more/purchase here!

My favorite thing about all of these are the prices!!! At $64 to $124, they are easy additions to a household that will last for a long time. They are so perfectly neutral that they can fit into just about any environment, I think. I might just have to grab one of these (Perspective one, I think, once I learn to read it…it took me long enough to go from digital to analog to begin with!). I can’t wait to see what Studio Ve comes up with next.

Santorini Dreaming

Santorini Dreaming

I’m Santorini dreaming, again…one of my biggest dreams is to visit Greece…Santorini (or the island of Thera), to be exact, and with the summer rapidly approaching, my incessant swooning has been revived. There is something so magical about the vast expanse of ocean surrounding a hillside of pristine white, sun bleached architectural wonder. I think I am fascinated with the place the same way I am drawn to deserts…although Santorini is obviously human-created, it almost has the same, clean, basic, “untouched” look as a desert does. Plus blue being my favorite, calming color and white maybe reminding me of my peaceful childhood days staring up at the pretty white walls and ceilings of Mission San Luis Obispo when my mom would bring me to church, might have something to do with it. I don’t know. But it’s a huge spot on my bucket list, as well as many other, more tropical areas around that side of the world (actually, all over the world…tropical areas perfectly fit the reason why I love deserts!).

A Casual Afternoon

Casual Afternoon

Jacket: Victoria’s Secret, Outer Top: Ella Moss, Jeans: DL1961 Florence in Warner, Shoes: Charlotte Russe

A Casual Afternoon

Just my getup on a casual afternoon, going right from work to a wine date. As you probably know by now, I wear jeans 99.999% of the time, so today was no exception (These are courtesy of DL1961, one of their new InstaSculpt jeans that I’ll soon be reviewing for Denimology!). I know I blog about them a lot, and there’s a reason…they have earned my loyalty with their quality and great fits (I know, I know, most brands claim this, but seriously here, and I am not paid to say it!). Everything else are items that have proven their longevity over the last few years. The jacket I grabbed at Victoria’s Secret years ago (by their MODA brand). I normally HATE ruffles with a passion but this one just struck me as cute! I’m always afraid of having anything leather washed so I make sure to wear more coverage than a tanktop underneath, which I did with this flyaway top from Ella Moss (purchased from Revolve Clothing awhile ago). I like classics…bold, solid colors, and not a lot of patterns unless they are subtle and/or paired with solids to keep them balanced. And those Charlotte Russe wedges…who would have known I’d dig yellow shoes (much less from Charlotte Russe)? Lets call them mustard…they are a fun pop of color with any outfit. Jewelry wise I keep it simple as well, and I’ve been obsessed with Midwinter Co.‘s raw gemstone necklaces lately (Amethyst being my all-time favorite)!

One Kings Lane – Moscow Mule Mugs

Moscow Mule Mugs at One Kings Lane

The Moscow Mule…for me it popped seemingly out of nowhere somehow, even though I certainly do not live under any rock that I know of (I mean…come on, I’ve been DJing since 2007). This drink has been around since what, the 1940s? Anyway, it’s certainly a favorite drink of mine when I decide to treat myself with a night out on the town, and there is definitely something about that copper cup that makes it special. As a great drink to make during a cocktail party at home, why not stock up with a set? I don’t think the jars, wine glasses and coffee mugs we currently use are going to cut it for much longer…and my eyes are currently on these beautiful Moscow Mule mugs at One Kings Lane! They are made of copper, brass and nickel, and sure look like they’d easily liven any at-home get-together or party.

One Kings Lane currently has a large selection of items for your at-home imbibing that includes different varieties of these mugs…check out the entire sale here.

Triarchy Skinny Riding Jean in Dark Indigo on Denimology

Triarchy Skinny Riding Jean in Dark Indigo on Denimology

After being a fan of denim for so long, it is always easy to think I’ve seen it all. However, part of the allure of the denim industry (at least for me) is how creative it is and how many new styles come out right when you think there’s only so much one can do with a pair of jeans! Today I’m bringing you something very different indeed…a Triarchy Skinny Riding Jean in Dark Indigo review!

Triarchy is the blending of the creative visions of two brothers and a sister. Adam studied the art of denim in Italy, Ania entered the equestrian world as a competitive show jumper and was also a fashion model, and Mark was a custom motorcycle designer. The unique experience of all three siblings resulted in this great, very original ready-to-wear brand, that was born in Vancouver. Every pair is structured in Los Angeles and made out of premium Italian and Japanese denim. I received a pair of these Triarchy Skinny Riding Jean in Dark Indigo jeans in my usual size of 26, and I was immediately impressed with the obvious quality of the denim. It is thick and sturdy at 92% cotton, 6% EME (4-way stretch), but soft, in a gorgeous dark blue wash with blended undertones and overtones. There are large hand-dyed leather inserts on the inside of the thighs that make me want to take these on the next motorcycle adventure with my hubby! They also provide resistance from wear and tear and the dreaded crotch blowout that some denim lovers suffer from, while adding a slimming lines to the leg so whether you are a rider or a fashionista, these jeans were made for you. I actually rode horses for most of my childhood life, so these struck a chord with me in that regard!

Art Masters Bridal Jewelry

Art Masters

Classic Contemporary 950 Platinum .40 Princess Cut Invisible CZ Diamond Solitaire Azteca Ring by Art Masters

I don’t think there’s a whole lot to say about these Art Masters bridal jewelry pieces…the photos do all the talking!! How incredible are these? I don’t think the designer could have chosen a better name…he truly is a master of art. All of these pieces are Italian, Victorian, Aztec, French, Art Deco, Vintage (you name it) inspired, as the company states here. I am already married (we got our rings through Diamond Nexus, who deserve a post of their own, really) but I cannot decide whether or not I’d like to sport something so whimsical and elaborate 100% of the time. Maybe I need to get rich and get one in as many colors as possible to wear with different outfits and moods! Just amazing. I’d have to say the one above is my favorite…as it could go with anything, although it’s hard to settle on just one. I’d just be afraid of some of the colored ones, however, as they are colored rhodium plated over 14k white gold and need to be re-plated every six months to a year. Talk about high maintenance…the seller does offer two free platings per customer. But for a pretty piece for special occasions only, and if you’ve got the money, why not??

Art Masters

Other Art Masters rings

These rings are all handmade in Los Angeles and made to order in only 8 to 10 business days after completed payment. They are all designer priced (looks like anywhere from $450 for a band to almost $4,000 for the most elaborate ones), but I am just still so stuck on how awesome they all look TOGETHER. I guess that’s all for the better, as these will all have to remain as eye candy…for the time being, at least. I’ve never seen such creative bridal jewelry in my life.

Art Masters Rings

And even more Art Masters rings…I cannot narrow these down very well…

The Obligatory Festival Style Post

I think it would be a little insulting of me to scream “HEY everyone, it’s FESTIVAL season!” as if nobody has noticed yet…it’s kind of hard to avoid the barrage of media attention and fashion blogs and brands bringing up post after post after post about what to wear to Coachella and unless you’re living under a rock, you know that’s what this time of the year brings. But something else stood out to me instead amongst all the hype…it seems at one time, these festivals were all about your individual style, and yet so many of these getups all look a bit cookie-cutter now. Think “festival” and your mind probably jumps to high rise, crotch hugging, frayed diaper shorts, bodies covered in all sorts of crochet and heads adorned with feathers and oversized sunglasses, right? Is it just me or is everyone conforming to the same festival look, and simply trying to outdo each other? I mean, unless you’re Vanessa Hudgens and are paid to show up with your own team of stylists to follow you around dabbing off your sweat beads to keep you looking fresh around the clock, there’s probably not much competition. Granted, it’s hot out there (weather wise), and there’s only so many ways to dress lightly under the scorching sun while dancing your tush off to your favorite band or DJ…I’ll vouch for that myself. So, after diligently avoiding this subject for long enough, I figured I’d post up my take of the whole thing, with some items I’d wear from American Eagle, TopShop, UrbanOG and Lucky Brand. I hope I’m not being too hypocritical here, because of course these outfits have that festival look to them…but this is what I’d rock out there if I were headed to Coachella this year.
