Mavi Serena Jogger in Dark Sporty Review on Denimology

The denim world recently took a bit of a hit lately, with many style-savvy individuals falling for the influx of fashionable activewear on the market. Many denim brands took this opportunity to create special lines of ultra-comfortable jeans that really push the limits of what really defines denim. One of the popular styles that several big names have come up with is the denim jogger. Mavi is one of these brands, and I got an opportunity to check one of these pairs out for myself! We all kind of fantasize about going to work or walking around everyday in our pajamas or sweatpants, and for us denim lovers, now it’s a bit more of a reality in disguise. I know this is still quite a new concept to many, so listen in if you’re curious to this Mavi Serena Jogger in Dark Sporty review!

Metallic Temporary Tattoos by Lulu DK

Who hasn’t enjoyed temporary tattoos as a kid? Self-decoration is nothing new, but these “just add water” applications disappeared just as fast as culottes and snap bracelets did (although, those are somehow back in style now)…and many of us ditched them for the real thing. I think when most of us think of temporary tats, we associate them with those 25 cent vending machines, or categorize them with face painting booths at the fair or amusement parks. They were fun, but once they started to fade into a grainy mess in a few days, the allure wore off. Just like cheap, flaky nail polish, these novelties fell into our pasts, permanently, and quickly. Never did I think I’d see them pop up again in a new, fresh way…for adults! I started seeing these around lately, and found a neat manufacturer online called Lulu DK. This brand also offers embroidery, patterned pillows, silks, art, bedding, decor and even handbags, all with bohemian, modern or whimsical designs. But their pretty gold or silver temporary tattoos caught my eye! Lulu DK is owned and operated by Lulu deKwiatkowski, who was born and raised in New York City and graduated from Parsons School of Design with a Fine Arts and Interior Design degree. She went on to create her brand in 1998, focusing on textiles and fabrics first, in Paris.

These all come in several different designs: Love Story, La Femme, High Noon, Blue Lagoon, Golden 1, Desert Blue, and Indigo. All of them look a lot more like jewelry to me than tattoos!

I love love love how gold and silver make your body shimmer and light up, and these tattoos do that beautifully!”

Each of these tattoo designs come in two sheets and last for 4-6 days. Summer will be approaching fast, so I might consider a few for bikini season! Either way, even now in winter, it might be fun to feature simple designs strategically placed here and there. In case anyone is wondering, all of these temporary tattoos pass safety standards for cosmetic products and meets all domestic and international regulatory requirements.

I can’t pick a favorite! Can you? I love how some of these are laced with a bit of color, too.

Shimmery Golden Awesomeness by Oscar de la Renta

Shimmery Golden Awesomeness by Oscar de la Renta

If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile now, you know I’m MUCH more contemporary fashion-focused than couture-focused, but I do appreciate high couture for it’s pure artistry. While out of reach for most of us, it’s still something to be admired sometimes! There are few things as creative in the fashion world as what I see come out of the brilliant minds behind some of these super high end brands. Oscar de la Renta, being one of them. Couture e-tailer Moda Operandi has featured some newly released items from the brand, two of which (the footwear shown here) are available for pre-order in an online trunk show ending tonight at 6pm EST. But I just really wanted to share these Tobin Booties, above! How amazing are they? I’m not much of a loafers fiend but I figured they were perfect to pair with them in this post, along with the jewelry below. I would be too afraid to walk in these booties if I was lucky enough to snag a pair! These beauties are made in Italy out of Specchio leather, and feature a zip closure. I know we’re fresh out of the holidays, but these would certainly turn heads at a swanky holiday party!

Back from Vacation to Another New Year

Happy new year everyone!!! I can’t believe we’re on to 2015. Now it’s time to get back to the normal swing of things. For our winter break, my hubby and I decided to ditch civilization and head out for some much needed natural therapy. We’ve talked a lot about going out to Utah, because I remember so many beautiful cross-country family road trips when I was a kid, and I was aching to go explore that area again, and he’d never been there. We headed out to the incredibly gorgeous Zion National Park, and Bryce Canyon National Park. I actually didn’t realize that Zion is only about two hours out from Las Vegas! Both of these places are unreal! To most of us, a brand new year means a nice fresh start, or trying something new and challenging our comfort zones. We certainly did that. I am NOT a fan of heights, but we charged up the super-intimidating Angel’s Landing in Zion. Many parts of this trail leave you on paths that are only two or three feet wide with a 1,500 foot drop on either side. Fortunately you have chains to hold onto, but still! Holy vertigo and fear-activated jello legs. But I did it, and it felt amazing! This is the second time I challenged my fear of heights, with the first being a skydiving adventure my hubby surprised me with for my birthday several years ago! Man it feels good to go head first into something new that you never thought you’d do, and succeeding! This kind of experience definitely translates into many areas of your everyday life, and it was the perfect way to start the new year, as a reminder that the sky is the limit.
