The Best Labor Day Denim Sales
It’s that time for big holiday sales again, and I know not many of you are going to be glued to your computer screens today…so just in case you are, I’ll keep the text short and let the images do the talking. If you’re one to bargain shop until you drop when the long holiday weekends come around, I’ve collected some sales from some of my favorite brands that I’ll probably be checking out too! BLANKNYC is one of my favorite brands due to their lower price point with a huge range of edgy styles with cute and humorous pop culture-oriented wash names. They were a big blogger favorite this summer season! Parker Smith is always the first brand I think of for classic, supersoft, durable denim that fits a wide range of shapes from thin to curvy without the fluff! Denimocracy is well known for their luxurious Anarchy knit skinny and also carry a large selection of alternative and classic styles. American Eagle Outfitters has an amazing new boho collection that I’m currently drooling over, and right now it’s buy one get one half off! Plus you can’t really beat their clearance sales which are oftentimes year-round. Lucky Brand needs no introduction…and 40% off? I’ll take it! Courtshop is a denim brand I am not too familiar with, but I really like what I see and hope to soon, so I keep my eyes on them! Black Orchid is known for gorgeous washes and supersoft, hip-hugging fits! James Jeans was one of the first premium denim brands and is incredible when it comes to their fits, and a wide range of classic washes as well as delightful prints! Joe’s has an incredible deal if you are a big spender, and Hudson is definitely one of my favorite denim brands as well! Their deal right now currently works on sale items! Score! Singer22 is amazing for sales, and offer a wide selection of contemporary fashion pieces. I’ve been a fan of theirs for years and frequent them often, mostly for their great deals and to see what’s new on the market! Sales end tonight, so go fast! I probably won’t be doing much shopping, as I am in San Diego visiting family and enjoying another mini vacation (there just can’t be enough of those can there?) So whatever you are doing, enjoy your day off and be safe.

Turn Up Your Awesome with TUYA
I’m finding it awesome and kind of exciting that this week’s posts seem to fall right in line with the fact that Burning Man is occurring as I type. Since I can’t attend this year, at least I’m living it vicariously through a few blog posts! Today’s post elaborates on a brand I highlighted on a previous post, Party Worthy Athletic Leggings. Since this brand is far more deep and colorful than a little feature as part of a collection of features, I figured it definitely warranted its own post, and many more in the future. TUYA, which stands for Turn Up Your Awesome, is an incredible brand that represents charity first, and apparel/accessories second. I discovered them at Lucidity Festival this year, and I’ve been a giant fan since. I’ve been in touch with them to help them get their word out, so I’ll be writing a lot more about them later on!
TUYA is run by Founder/CEO/Director of Awesomeness Drew Stern, and is “is a lifestyle empowerment brand on a mission to challenge and encourage people to live their lives to their truest & highest selves, while bringing awareness and solutions to important social causes.” The brand was born when Drew traveled to Guatemala in 2010 and met Juanita, a local woman who made a living off baking and selling bread. Drew fell in love with her ambitions, and began creating tee shirts featuring her face and sales pitch (“¿Quiree Paaaan?”) to help her out. Ten percent of sales went to her, and Drew quickly realized how beneficial it is to be selfless, and developed a mission that whatever he brought into the world would also be to also benefit the greater good. TUYA was born shortly after!

Performance Art Inspired Fashion by Skingraft
I’m not always one to publish my posts around a current theme, event or holiday, but it just so happens I discovered this incredible brand just in time for Burning Man week! I have several friends that head out to the Playa every year, and I have yet to go, but one of these days I really hope to! I think it would be a great experience of getting away from it all and returning to basics, no matter how uncomfortable it might get at times. Part of my desire stems from my love for transformational festivals and the beauty and freedom of self-expression, with so many colorful fashions and smiling people. There are few places I feel so at home as I do at these events. However, I know Burning Man is on an entirely different level! San Francisco houses many shops that cater to the Burner crowd, with talented designers who work their hands to the bone creating on-demand costumes and accessories every year for desert or party revelers. Obviously not many of these outfits can be worn on an every day basis (although I LOVE to be able to say, why not? I wish we could!), but some designers take things beyond the show, and “evolve” their fashion, if you will, to be worn practically anywhere. Skingraft is one of those, and I am completely impressed by what I see. The brand was founded in 2006 by San Francisco native Jonny and his brother Christopher Cota. The first shop opened in Los Angeles after Jonny graduated from University of California, Santa Cruz and spent several years as a circus performer. I absolutely LOVE circuses, and circus inspired anything…music, clothing, events…you name it.
