Brands Support Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Brands Support Breast Cancer Awareness Month

It’s that time of the month again! I honestly didn’t realize it was October already until I started to get a small stream of Breast Cancer Awareness Month-related emails in my inbox. I don’t think it needs to be said that this is one of those societal issues that I feel shouldn’t be limited to a month, but whatever is campaign-friendly and gets people’s attention, I’m all for. Some prefer to wear pink ribbons, and some prefer to donate or support companies and brands who donate a portion of their profits. I am lucky enough that I haven’t had any breast cancer in my family, and I take as many health precautions as I can in order to keep it that way (as we all should), but with it being as serious as it is out there, I like to help out when I can. I really don’t like the color pink all that much, and I feel it’s more effective to donate to the right charities, but really, whatever you do to get the message out there, go for it! I could search high and low for the multitude of brands participating in the cause, but I figured I’d feature the ones that graced my inbox with a promotion, whether it be a discount on pink items or donating a percentage of apparel sales for that month to the right organizations. Either way, I think these are all great, and I have to say that BLANKNYC‘s straight-to-the-point ad is my absolute favorite…click through for a variety of awesome premium denim styles at not-so-premium prices, that range from edgy to classic, including their much-loved vegan leather line! See more below…

Angela Roi is a recent discovery for me, and I will definitely be writing a full post about them soon. They feature a ton of super cute, affordable bags for a variety of charitable causes, such as anxiety and depression, melanoma research, diabetes, alzheimer’s, and more…including of course, breast cancer. This super cute pink tote is a limited edition run for the month, and it isn’t just made to look pretty…Angela Roi states “We donate to save lives through early detection, increase awareness through education, provide diagnostic breast care services for those in need, and provide nurturing support services.” Shop here!

J Brand is a huge veteran in the denim business, and they are doing their part this month with a cute pink, distressed version of their classic cropped skinny jean. This jean is constructed in their seriously flattering Photo Ready fabric (see my review on it here). J Brand says, “J Brand will donate 20% of retail sales to young survival coalition for every purchase of the little pink jean. YSC provides free resources and programs to support, educate and empower women diagnosed with breast cancer age 40 and under. With your help, we will directly improve the lives of thousands of young survivors and ensure that no young woman is left to face breast cancer alone.” Shop here.

Revolve is one of the biggest online retailers out there, for everything and everything contemporary fashion…so needless to say, I frequent it a lot (and if you haven’t noticed, I post about it a lot too). This month, in collaboration with SU2C (Stand Up To Cancer), they’ve released a capsule collection to support SU2C research and programs. Revolve states, “Stand Up To Cancer’s (SU2C) mission is to raise funds to accelerate the pace of groundbreaking translational research that gets new therapies to patients quickly to save lives now. SU2C enables collaboration among leading doctors and scientists at over 120 institutions in the U.S. and abroad. By galvanizing the entertainment industry, SU2C has set out to generate awareness, educate the public on cancer prevention and help more people diagnosed with cancer become long-term survivors.” Shop here!

I’m always happy to see the effort that American Eagle/Aerie puts into giving back and always coming up with new ideas. I’ve been a huge fan of them for quite some time and they never let me down! This month Aerie is offering a limited edition pink bralette to support Bright Pink, a non-profit with a mission of prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women. Aerie also supports Neda, an organization that supports families and individuals affected by eating disorders. See what I’m saying? Read more and shop here!

This one is slightly out of the blue, as it’s more for athletes…but these socks are amazing. I wear them when I run to reduce soreness by increased circulation. People who travel a lot can also find them useful to reduce swelling or the risk of clotting on long flights or in cases of prolonged sitting! Take them on long hikes as well. Pro Compression is offering 40% off pink items on this page with code PINK through 9/30. Shop here.

Textured Canvas and Organic Denim by Oneiro

Textured Canvas and Organic Denim by Oneiro

Etsy has been one of my absolute favorite places to shop lately, whether I’m just window shopping to admire awesome examples of individual creativity or actually looking for a new favorite piece. Usually the latter always ends up being the case no matter what…sometimes I feel the fashion market is so saturated that it’s hard to find items that are truly different, but I also strongly believe there is so much amazing talent out there that deserves much more recognition than it gets. I love alternative fashion, and I’m also obviously interested in the organic/eco-fashion side of things as well. While browsing lately I discovered Oneiro clothing, a little shop out of Vancouver with awesome alternative, festival and street-worthy apparel and accessories for both men and women. All pieces are designed in Canada and handmade in Bali for an awesome, tribal-like quality! Being a fan of transformational festivals, Oneiro caught my eye as a possible new shop when Lucidity Festival rolls back around (the one that started it all, and still my favorite to this day), but then I caught a glimpse of something I really don’t see in many independent shops…denim! Jeans are tough to construct and cut just right, and something only a few seem to really go for. Oneiro was born in 2013 after owner Julie apprenticed with a friend’s clothing line and became inspired by the festival culture. I usually wouldn’t think about wearing jeans to these types of events, but these, I would! With super creative cuts, textures and hardware details, these would look incredible with any outfit, whether for The Playa or the street!

Joe’s Flawless Cupro Colors The Vixen Ankle Review on Denimology

I’m so happy to once again have the chance to review Joe’s Jeans, which is one of those brands that definitely needs no huge introduction. Women everywhere have loved this brand for its impeccable fits for both slim and curvy shapes, and I’ll always vouch for the impressive durability regarding fabric thickness and overall feel. For those who don’t like a ton of stretch in their jeans, Joe’s is always a great choice. For those that do, and appreciate the flattering ability for stretch jeans to hold and tuck you in while smoothing you out, Joe’s now has a new denim fabric called Flawless, which does just that! This shaping fabric is applied to many much-loved Joe’s cuts, like the Charlie and Provocateur skinny and bootcut fits, Mustang and Vixen skinnies, Cigarette, Honey Flare and Bootcut, and more! Joe’s has also released a new collection within the Vixen Ankle style, called Cupro Colors for Fall. This collection is made up of four perfectly earthy autumn tones! For this review I am actually presenting both of these new releases for Joe’s, so without much more, here’s my Joe’s Flawless Cupro Colors The Vixen Ankle in Mustang review!
