Elevate Your Style with New Activewear from Carbon38

Elevate Your Style with New Activewear from Carbon38

I have such a soft spot for activewear…way back over ten years ago when I first started my journey into fitness, I didn’t care much about clothing that I was simply going to sweat in and toss in the hamper. I’d frequent Ross for the cheapest items I could find, before I realized how much better I felt in pieces that were less bulky and more breathable. Back then though, there wasn’t as huge of an option for stylish and comfortable activewear. Over the years, I collected much more functional pieces that were definitely more stylish than before, but I still didn’t give gym style that much thought. Lately, as activewear made its way from the gym to the street in competition with the denim industry, there has been an explosion of amazing designs out there—it seems the sky is now the limit when it comes to creativity in designs within the athleisure market boom! I now have several pieces that I love so much that I don’t even wear in the gym at all, mostly from Zobha, a huge favorite of mine.

I wrote about Carbon38, an incredible online stop for high end activewear, about two years ago with a post about leggings I was seriously coveting. Since then, I’ve kept my eyes on their impressive growth. Not only do they have their own activewear line, but they also carry favorites from brands such as MONROW, Onzie, NSF, Blanc Noir, ALO Yoga and more. Unlike most shops of its kind out there, they take more of the edgier side, with gorgeous detailing such as moto and hardware accents, sleek wet-look fabrics, braiding, embroidery, and totally unique cuts. Their new Moto Collection, made up entirely of pieces by Carbon38 themselves, is a dream for a fitness and style nut like me…it’s all almost too awesome to sweat in! Here is a sampling of some of my favorite items from all new arrivals on their website, including some pieces from said collection.

I kind of want it all. Don’t you? Shop more amazingness from Carbon38 and other brands they carry here.

OK, sorry again for my absence—I’m now back from long road trips and extensive work obligations for awhile…so now I can get back to posting on a decently regular basis again! Thanks for sticking with me. I still have so much from the Global Eclipse Gathering that I want to post, but I still have not yet had a chance to sort through everything I collected there that I intend to share with you all. All of this material will certainly last me awhile, so I like the idea of mixing in other brands that make me think of the nomadic, transformational festival environment (along with the usual denim and other notable things I run across) to draw it out as long as I can since really, eco-friendly and independent brands is part of the soul of my blog apart from denim. A little over a year ago, I posted about a new footwear line that a favorite sustainable retailer, Nomads Hemp Wear, was carrying. These shoes had been featured in photo shoots for the brand for quite some time, and after asking them where they were from, I was so happy to see them finally offer them for sale in their online store! A.S.98 is the name, handmade leather shoes and boots is their game—and I’ve been keeping my eyes on them ever since then.

I may come off as a pretty stylish gal based on all the fun things I find to share with you all here, but really oftentimes I just want to throw on a comfy pair of jeans and a tee. Fortunately, this classic weekend look is allowed at my work, so whenever I’m not feeling all that stylish I’m free to feel chill…but effortless style definitely still rules over deliberate frump! I often opt for band tees, but I’ve recently enjoyed growing my tee collection with all sorts of fun graphics. Sometimes, especially for adults though, it’s hard to find graphic tees that don’t make you feel like you’re trying too hard to be a kid again, but there are a lot of fun options on the market nowadays. Apart from band or brand tees, what much else is there? As linked above, there are several options…but Etsy is an awesome place to shop!

The New Eco Friendly Denim Line from Everlane

The New Eco Friendly Denim Line from Everlane

It can be pretty hard to search out eco friendly apparel brands out there in the sea of fast fashion retailers, but it’s finally beginning to get easier. More and more well established brands, whether they have already staked their claim in the premium denim market or not, are realizing the importance of sustainability and environmentally friendly practices as awareness slowly but surely grows. Everlane is one brand I’ve had my eyes on for awhile, as a brand that provides modern, classic and mature wardrobe staples. Denim has never been part of their lineup, as denim is usually a very dirty industry. Creating those beautiful washes we love uses a lot of water, and often releases dangerous toxins into the environment. However, Everlane stayed true to their values and finally found a way to add a denim shop to their expansive collection of apparel for both women and men.

The Wonder Jean by James Jeans Blends Denim x Athleisure

I know I was on a roll reminiscing on the wonder that was the Global Eclipse Gathering a few weeks ago, sharing anything that has to do with independent and sustainable apparel designers I discovered there, but I can’t neglect the denim aspect of my blog, can I? I at least try to keep a healthy variety! I am still always keeping my eyes on what’s new in the world of denim, and one thing I noticed is the competition between the still-growing athleisure industry is still going fairly strong. At music festivals, I never wear jeans and opt for leggings, but in my everyday life I could never give up my beloved denim collection. Although I’ve grown a taste for the vintage denim trend that’s grown lately in a response to all of the supersoft and stretchy fabric technologies out there, it’s still amazing to me how comfortable these denim fabrics are. They definitely give a lot of the leggings on the market a run for their money!

If you live in the western states right now, I’m sure you can agree that this heat wave we’ve been having has been quite unbearable! I have to admit that I haven’t worn a pair of jeans in weeks. It’s very hard for me to wear loose, light fabrics as bottoms because I feel like I’m wearing almost nothing—jeans give me a feeling of security. However, especially after the Global Eclipse Gathering two weeks ago, I’ve grown more comfortable wearing lighter fabrics in the heat. Even at work! Discovering all of the amazing apparel vendors at the event was great timing for me, as I found myself shopping and building wish lists with all of them more than I have the usual denim brands I love. I’m usually like this after any festival, but feeling a new sense of comfort and freedom in the heat (and year-round) with some of these designs has made them leave more of an impact in the direction I want this blog to go. I’ll always love denim, but independent and sustainable designers are such a huge passion of mine! Plus, it’s nice to break out of the usual jeans and a tee shirt rut.

It’s still been so hard to get over the festival vibes after the Oregon Eclipse Gathering! There were over a hundred vendors and I got rather excited to collect business cards and peruse their goods to share with all of you. Denim will always be at my core but I really have such a passion and a huge appreciation for independent designers, especially those who use sustainable materials in their creations. I still have to go through all of the cards I collected and figure out the best way to share them all here, but I’ll start with one that helped us out considerably during the cold nights at the event!
