7 For All Mankind Slim Illusion Skinny in Icy Black 2 Review

It’s pretty awesome nowadays to watch all of the amazing technology that denim companies are coming up with to combat the ages-old woes of jeans losing their fit and sagging after just a few wears, and to address the primary concern that most women have when looking for the perfect pair: the ability to lift, tuck, and show off your assets. I’ve reviewed many impressive pairs through the years with Denimology, but I’m excited to bring one to Decadent Dissonance from the one and only 7 For All Mankind! The brand’s Slim Illusion line has been out for awhile now, featuring a wide range of bootcuts and skinnies in several washes with an ultra flattering fabric blend. I always like darker skinnies as they often are a bit more flattering than the lighter alternatives, so I went with a gorgeous, faded black skinny with perfectly placed knee rips to try out this innovative collection. So read on for my review on the 7 For All Mankind Slim Illusion Skinny in Icy Black 2!

The 7 For All Mankind Slim Illusion Skinny in Icy Black 2 is a sequel to the Ultimate Icy Black version, which I was initially coveting but went out of stock! But alas, that one sold out. The brand generously sent me this beautiful alternative and I have to say I absolutely love it! This skinny is the brand’s skinniest body, with a second skin fit. It was fairly tight when I first put it on, but the stretch is very giving, and oh does it hold you in! I was advised to size down from my usual 26 to a 25, as I do often with 7 For All Mankind jeans, and I am glad I did. If you are between sizes or often size down, I would definitely do so! Otherwise, if your normal fit is often snug, I would stick with that. The 9.5oz fabric blend of 90% cotton, 6% poly and 4% spandex softened up after a few wears to fit even better, as a great jean should, but has not stretched out one bit! I know many people are tired of the super stretchy, spandexy jeans out there, so 7 For All Mankind did a great job with this fabric blend in the sense that they are mostly cotton, so they still have the feel and quality of cotton while at the same time not feeling like leggings.

The rise is listed as 6.75″ but it certainly feels like a higher rise to me, closer to maybe 8″. I have high hip bones, and it hugs them all around with a good amount of coverage. I feel totally (but comfortably) sucked in! The 11.25″ back rise definitely helps though! These jeans have a 30.5″ inseam so they hit right below my ankles (I am 5′ 6″), but I really like wearing them cuffed for an extra bit of character and I love the exposed grey underneath. As for the knee holes, one of the biggest concerns I have (and I’m sure many others do too) with ripped jeans is the possibility of the rips growing as you bend, squat, and just generally live your life as you normally do. But, despite the fabric’s ability to hug your every curve, it is giving enough to not allow enough tension on these holes so they stay as they are. At least, they have for me!

I would say, since these jeans are a neutral shade, that they could be worn with anything, any time! The premium feel and ultra flattering fit suggests they’d be best wearing out, but I’ve worn them many times to work and around town! See one of my outfit posts here where I feature them on a workday. They definitely will turn heads, but the detailing is fairly modest…with just enough fading on the thighs to show contour and beautiful whiskering above the thighs for a pretty vintage-like look. I haven’t seen anything else on the market quite like these, so if you are looking for a beautiful grey, distressed skinny jean that will keep you looking fabulous while you strut your stuff on a night out or on a daily basis, this is it!
