Mavi Jeans Tess Super Skinny in Ink Stripe Review

I hope you all enjoyed my first review in a long time from Mavi, for their Alissa Super Skinny in Dark Smoke Supersoft! After being so busy with other life happenings, it has been nice to get back to product reviews for all of you. I still currently have several more new Fall denim arrivals from this brand to share. To help new readers catch up, I’ve reviewed several items from Mavi in the past both on my personal blog (check them here and here) and at Denimology (see them here and here), and they are definitely one of my favorite brands to work with and share with my readers! This next review is for the Tess Super Skinny in Ink Stripe, which I have to say is one of my favorite jeans I’ve ever reviewed.

Mavi Jeans Alissa Super Skinny In Dark Smoke SuperSoft Review

I know it’s been quite some time since I’ve done a product review…life just got in the way and I had a lot on my plate for awhile, so I decided to take a short break. It’s definitely meaningful to me to present quality brands and independent designers in general posts, but sharing them up close and personal is so much more valuable, and fun! I am happy to say I’ve currently got several more ready and waiting in the wings for all of you, so get ready! Mavi Jeans is my latest focus, and I have quite a handful of their new Fall denim pieces to share. If you remember, I’ve reviewed several of their jeans both on my personal blog (check them here and here) and at Denimology (see them here and here), and I’ve never been disappointed, so I’m stoked to try out a few more.

The Farrah High Waist Pull-On Skinny Jeans by Liverpool

The Farrah High Waist Pull-On Skinny Jeans by Liverpool - Front View

I’ve been reviewing jeans for my blog and Denimology for several years now…since 2013 I think? I can’t believe it’s been so long! I always seem to get pinned with the dark skinny jeans, but I don’t complain…I always feel they are the best when it comes to flattering my more athletic figure! Even though we’re all familiar with the usual 5-pocket, zipper fly jeans, no skinny jean is alike, which is why even though they might look all the same in my photos, they definitely do not all feel the same. I had heard of something a little different a few years ago: the pull-on skinny jean. Of course, we all think about frumpy sweatpants or “mom jeans” when we think about denim with elastic waistbands, but hear me out here. This month, I got the chance to review a pair of super cute pull-on jeans—the Farrah High Waist Pull-On Skinny Jeans by Liverpool, for Denimology, and I was super exited to finally see what this was all about.

Sonas Denim Graphic Patchwork Yoga Leggings Review

Sonas Denim Graphic Patchwork Yoga Leggings Review - Front View With Hood 3

If you haven’t yet noticed, music festival life is at my core along with my affinity to denim and sustainable, ethical apparel. It’s rare to get all three together! Last May, I had the awesome opportunity to review a pair of eco-friendly, Burning Man inspired jeans from a San Frandisco-based brand that definitely deserves more recognition, Sonas Denim. I was stoked to discover a company that fit all three, AND donates a portion of proceeds towards future construction of an animal sanctuary. It just so happens that this is one of the main things I would do if I ever won the lottery! Of course I had to present this brand to all of you, my readers. They are definitely now one of my favorites and I still talk about them with all my friends and acquaintances, especially those in the festival circuit.

Review of the Ethical Burning Man Inspired Jeans from Sonas Denim - Front

Ok. I’ll warn you ahead of time, this is going to be a long post, but I’m quite excited to share this subject brand with you guys! There’s really never any time when I receive a pair of jeans to review that I don’t like, as it’s always cool to try out and report on a variety of different styles. There’s usually something about brands that I work with that I completely respect and jive with that makes me add them to my ever growing list of favorites and makes me excited to share them with all of you! However, rarely is there a time when I discover a brand that truly hits home to me from every angle. This is a review of the ethical Burning Man inspired jeans from Sonas Denim, and I have to say I am totally in love with this brand! I can’t even remember how I stumbled across them…probably because I was so immediately impressed that I forgot how it all came to be.

Fran Denim Kelly Crop Jeans Review

Fran Denim Kelly Crop Jeans Review

It’s been almost two years since I last wrote about Fran Denim, and I’m glad to see them still going strong! It’s great to see such a huge response in the denim industry for fits that are made for body shapes outside of the typical model type; more and more big names (and some new) are putting out collections fit for the curvy ones among us. However, there still isn’t a whole lot out there for athletic types, even though sometimes we can fit in the “curvy” demographic. I might not have a super muscular shape, and I do easily fit into most jeans on the market, but I am a gym rat (#ISquat), and many of those jeans I do fit in could definitely fit a little better. I have the larger bum and smaller waist which often leads to a least a slight waist gap, causing me to hike jeans up a few times throughout the day. Or, sometimes the waist is fine, but the legs don’t quite accommodate much muscle. I even have situations where the whole jeans do fit, thanks to stretch, but they are tighter in my more toned areas which still make them slide down or shift throughout the day. Enter Fran Denim…a true lifesaver! Read on for my review of the Fran Denim Kelly Crop—a new release!

Trying Out a New Denim Brand: Johnny Was Blue

It’s always good fun discovering and trying out new denim brands…it always amazes me how many there are out there that I still somehow don’t know about to begin with, but it impresses me how many new ones pop up all the time, despite the crazy competition in the industry! My stint at Denimology as a product reviewer has been such an amazing opportunity to try all sorts of brands, both new and some I’ve known and wanted to try for a long time. The latest for me to discover and review is a new denim line from a brand born in 1987 and inspired by the California boho and beach life, Johnny Was. After 30 years of always searching for the best jeans to pair with their flowy, feminine tops, they decided to introduce their own denim line, Johnny Was Blue! The line consists of three signature fits: The Flare, The Skinny (in a medium blue or black wash) and The Tomboy, each made with supersoft Tencel-infused fabrics thanks to designer Christy Whitley. When I got the chance to review one of these styles for Denimology, I chose The Tomboy! I’d normally grab a skinny jean, but I’ve done sooo many of those and lately I’ve been more partial to, and curious about, more relaxed vintage-inspired fits.

Mavi Adriana Indigo Move Super Skinny in Deep Bi-Str Review

Mavi Adriana Indigo Move Super Skinny in Deep Bi-Str Review - Side View

I just can’t get enough of comfy, stretchy, legging-like skinny jeans! It’s been fascinating seeing the denim market’s response to the rapid rise of athleisure and the popularity of wearing leggings as pants. The development of new fabric technologies has been on overdrive in the past few years, and jeans have never been so comfortable. Brands are coming out with denim that isn’t just stretchy, but also super soft, curve-hugging (with enough give to avoid being tight) and the amazing ability to snap back and keep its shape. A little while ago I wrote about another great line of jeans for active individuals, from Mavi. Their Indigo Move collection is one of the newest ones to make waves in the denim vs athleisure movement, and I’m stoked to be able to try on a pair to share it with all of you!

A Casual Evening in STRÖM Brand

A Casual Evening in STRÖM Brand

I’m still loving these longer summer days, but as we get nearer to Fall, I’m definitely noticing we’re having to rush out of work more often to catch a quick shoot before the sun goes down! It’s definitely tougher to keep up with the blog and Denimology reviews in the winter time because of this. Photos always look better in the early evenings due to less brightness and shadows, so it’s not like weekends can all be used for catch up. Either way, we bloggers do what we gotta do!

Mavi Gold Alexa Ankle Skinny in Green Indigo Gold Feather Review

Mavi Gold Alexa Ankle Skinny in Green Indigo Gold Feather Review - Front View

I’ve known about Mavi Jeans for quite awhile, ever since they used to grace a late boutique we had here in my town that I designed displays and window posters for back in 2008. However, I didn’t really get to try them out until 2014 for a Denimology review featuring the Emma Slim Boyfriend, and once again last year featuring the ultra soft Serena Jogger. This time though, I’m even more excited because I got to try the brand new Feather by Mavi Gold line, which I wrote about last month! These are really something special, and I’m excited to show off this pair which was my favorite from the line and stood out to me right away…the Alexa Ankle Skinny in Green Indigo Gold Feather!
