Current Handbag Cravings

So this is one of those random posts that I’m inspired by a just-as-random internet window shopping fest…not really focused on anything in particular other than sharing some items that have currently caught my eye! Handbags and shoes are some of the most fun items to shop for, since they each have the ability of giving an entirely different look to an outfit. How that works is beyond me, but who cares…not many of us can resist a pretty, sparkly new (and functional) bag to make our everyday lives just that much more convenient, fun, and stylish. I am a big fan of both Rebecca Minkoff and Tory Burch, due to their classic, refined, yet eye-catching styles (Throw Mark Jacobs and the clean leather Coach styles in there too…but that’s for another post!). I recently saw a blog post from PurseBlog discussing National Handbag Day at Bloomingdales on 10/10/14, and the accompanying pop-up shop. This is where I discovered the beautifully vibrant cobalt blue Tory Burch Robinson Micro Double Zip Tote, which is a Bloomingdales exclusive! A Piperlime newsletter brought this gorgeous Rebecca Minkoff Amorous Satchel in Black Cherry to my eye. I LOVE a dark burgundy color, and it’s perfect for the Fall months upon us!

I’m a big sucker for convertible bags (meaning, handles for carrying in-hand, and a larger strap for the shoulder or crossbody) or bags that just leave a lot of carrying and storage options open. I’m more likely to splurge a little for bags like this because I know it will fit a wide range of purposes and needs that come up in my daily life! Plus, a nicely constructed leather bag like either of these will last a long time. I alternate between a black Coach Large Zoe bag and a Foley & Corinna Mid City Tote in Cobalt, both of which are convertible, roomy and have multiple pockets, and their leather construction has kept them in tip top shape for quite some time now! Both of the bags in this post fit the same tastes. I’m a sucker for cobalt but I already have a bag in this color, so I put the Rebecca Minkoff Amorous Satchel in Black Cherry bag as the highlight of this post. I’d love to add that rich dark burgundy to my wardrobe!

I love how the Rebecca Minkoff Amorous Satchel in Black Cherry has a nice businessy look to it, and it runs at a nice roomy 14″ wide, 9 ½” high, 5″ diameter size and is made of 100% cowhide leather. The Tory Burch Robinson Micro Double Zip Tote is made of Saffiano leather, with two exterior zip compartments, and interior zip, and runs at 10″ long, 4.5″ wide and 7.5″ high. So practical, beautiful, and they look so durable! Price wise, they aren’t cheap, but they are what I’d expect for something that is going to last awhile and fit all my needs without ranging in the high-couture realm. I’m sure a lot of us wouldn’t mind an exclusive Hermès Birkin, but a quality designer bag that’s just a couple hundred is far more reasonable for most of us.
