Elegant Dark Denim from The Black Sheep Story by MOTHER

Elegant Dark Denim from The Black Sheep Story by MOTHER

It’s funny to me how far we’ve come since the year (2008-ish?) that Sarah Jessica Parker stepped out in a pair of grey skinnies from Habitual and caused the trend to blow up in popularity overnight. Today, grey jeans come in all sorts of pretty washes and finishes. It’s awesome to me how much you can do with such a basic shade! Black jeans have always been seen as a closet staple, so that’s nothing new, but still after all these years it too is anything but ordinary. MOTHER has just combined all of their most beautiful black and grey jeans in a collection (or story, as they call it) titled The Black Sheep, but you’ll definitely feel anything but a mere outsider wearing these! Actually, take it as being an outsider in terms of being ahead of the crowd—strut your stuff in any piece from this “story” and you’ll definitely turn heads!

I am happy to see MOTHER has taken the frayed hem to a new level, with a few uneven cuts in different inseams, rises and fits. I am especially fond of the above style, The Double Frey Charmer in Faded Black. I adore faded black washes since they look so much like a well loved and worn pair of black jeans, with a vibe just as welcoming and comforting as its traditional blue vintage counterparts! I own one jean from the brand…The Looker, and one thing I love the most about it is whether you are having a fat day or a skinny day, the fit is impeccable! I never need a belt with it. So it goes without saying this collection has added a few new pieces to my wish list. If you haven’t noticed, black distressed jeans (especially with knee rips) are so hot right now, so shop away!

This collection also includes a few tops and tees, so be sure to see the entire thing here for more!

Grey is like a staple in denim washes now, it’s amazing isn’t it? It’s never a denim colour that got much of a look in, until recently. I love the amount of frayed hems in different fits too, MOTHER sure does know how to own it!
