Corduroy often reminds us of our childhood years, I think (at least, it reminds me of the famous bear)…which maybe is why corduroy collections from famous denim brands don’t seem to catch on as much as their denim counterparts. Or, am I wrong? It’s so nostalgic to me, but maybe the common thought is that it’s harder to style, as denim is such a classic look that gives a nice contrast to whatever is worn up top. Perhaps it’s because denim allows for all the pretty shading and destroyed details that so many of us fashion-forward individuals love so much. Either way, corduroy lines are persistent, and this is the time of year when I always see more of them. I always keep my eyes open, tempted, but never really sure…but this new line from Paige Denim has me intrigued!

Paige is well-known in the world of denim, for those who aren’t familiar with them. The brand was born in February 2005 by Paige Adams-Geller, who worked as a top fit model beforehand (yes, she was blessed enough with assets that companies used to perfect fits of the premium denim industry in the earlier years). I also like to mention a brand’s philanthropy when they are involved in good causes, and Paige definitely is! Paige works closely with NEDA (The National Eating Disorders of America), RAINN (the Rape Abuse and Incest National Network), and more. Check out more about that here.

I can’t say I’ve ever seen corduroy with denim-like details such as exposed zip pockets on the hips, or cropped…or cropped with long zippers at the ankle, and I LOVE ankle zippers! The pretty Jane Zip Ultra Skinny in Midnight Navy Corduroy caught my eyes first. How pretty is the hardware contrast on that perfect dark navy blue? I need these in my life.

I think what deserves a good mention here too, is that Paige kept both the zippered line as well as a standard corduroy line for those who prefer to opt for more clean, streamlined looks. I also love the clean back pocket designs…that distinctive side-pocket notch design is unmistakable! I can’t get over that blue, I guess, as the Skyline Straight in Midnight Navy Corduroy also caught my eye. I have the Skyline from many years ago which was my first pair of grey straight jeans (which were considered skinny jeans back then I think), and I love how soft they are! I can only imagine how soft these pretty corduroy pieces from Paige are also.

Unlike the corduroy we are familiar with from our childhood years, this is more tightly, smaller woven corduroy for a smoother look. At a nice 8 1/8″ rise for a good fit and 30″ inseam for the Verdugos, and a 34″ rise for the Skylines, these great bottoms with a 9 oz Fabric and 97% Cotton, 3% Elastane blend are sure to please. I’d love to get my hands on one!
