Incredibly Unique Styles that Empower Women by Norma Kamali

A brand that excels at designing beautiful, unique clothing is one thing…but the photography that represents it all is another. It’s all about the whole package! Without good photography, even the coolest of clothing gets lost in the sea of competition. It’s a tough world out there and I get a bazillion emails every day (partially from many of the contests I enter so I’m always unsubscribing from things), and I’m a little A.D.D. so it takes a lot to catch my undivided attention! I don’t have to say that I created this blog to share some of the most beautiful, unique talent in the apparel world out there, or that it’s always a bonus if there’s good intentions behind it…at least, if you’ve been reading my work for the last several years. Norma Kamali is the latest brand to cross my paths and I have to say I immediately bookmarked the name as soon as I spotted my first newsletter from this amazing designer.

Norma Kamali and her brand have been around since 1967 so I’m kind of surprised it took me so long to get to know her name. This lady began as an innovator, or an inventor, as her website says. Some of her most notable works include her Sleeping Bag Coats, Parachute Collection (just feast your eyes on this skirt), Sweats Collection, and she also creates active sportswear and is known for her swimwear as well. Norma Kamali is definitely closer to the high couture realm, but her brand KAMALIKULTURE brings her gorgeous styles to a more affordable market.

This woman’s impressive accolades don’t stop at her unforgettable apparel…she’s also won several fashion, film, architecture and interior design awards, as well as a few from the White House for working with public schools and pro-education organizations. She’s received an Honorary Doctorate from FIT and has been a keynote speaker at several commencement ceremonies. The core of Norma’s business is women’s empowerment. She is involved with many women’s organizations, speaking at numerous women’s, entrepreneurial and wellness events. Her brand is based on women’s “fitness, health, beauty, style and entrepreneurship,” and she’s worked hard employing the power of social media to promote her business and connect with her loyal fans. Norma also provides health and beauty products through her Wellness Café and loves educating women on body image, self esteem and other pressing issues to help develop and build confidence. She strongly believes empowerment comes from a healthy mind and spirit, which comes from a healthy body. Norma also runs the Stop Objectification Campaign to help educate the public about issues surrounding every woman’s individual experiences with objectification on a global scale. She works hard to break down these barriers to help all women reach their fullest potential.

So now that I’ve shared all the amazing things Norma Kamali has done, are you even thinking about fashion anymore? If so, scroll down to see my favorite pieces thanks to the beautiful photography that perfectly compliments her work!

“Norma Kamali has won numerous awards for fashion, film, interior design, and architecture. She has also received awards from the White House for her work with public schools, as well as a wide assortment of pro-education organizations. Norma received an Honorary Doctorate from FIT and has been honored as the keynote speaker at several commencement addresses.”

“Today [Norma’s] brand is based on every aspect of a woman’s life, from FITNESS, HEALTH, BEAUTY and STYLE to ENTREPRENEURSHIP. This has now become the mantra of her company.”

“By informing women on topics that relate to self-esteem, and body image, she feels their confidence can develop. A healthy body translates to a healthy mind and spirit. This is an empowered woman.”

“Her Stop Objectification campaign is an awareness campaign about the unique experiences a woman has regarding objectification. These issues involve all women around the world. It is her goal to free women of the stigma of those experiences that can take them down emotionally and spiritually, inhibiting their chances for reaching their true potential.”

“Empowering women through FITNESS, HEALTH, BEAUTY, STYLE, and ENTREPRENEURSHIP builds women who are INVINCIBLE. A woman who is invincible will change the world.”

As mentioned, Norma’s work does not stop at what’s seen on her website! I found all sorts of amazing items from her all over the place. Here’s quite a bit more of her work, including activewear and swimwear, to shop from.

I am loving these power poses! You’re right, so many clothes can be lost due to bad or just bland photography. This is definitely a winner though!

I love, love, love Norma Kamali fashions. I bought my first Kamali fashion in 1986! It was a black, tee shirt dress that I wore forever! Great job on the review
