Leopard and Ombre
Awhile ago I posted about the Current/Elliott leopard-print jeans as part of my ever-growing wish list. Well eBay won me over again…although I love the version in Sapphire that I featured in that post, I am a sucker for anything in burgundy. So, I jumped at the chance to snag a pair of them in Fig, the burgundy shade! I love these! They are also my first pair of Current/Elliott jeans and I can see what the big fuss was about them not long ago. They are low rise, but it’s hard to find low-rise jeans that fit my body shape without falling down throughout the day. They stay put, and they are a nice thick but soft denim. From many reports I have read about the brand in the past, I sized down to a 25 (I am normally a 26), which was a great idea. Current/Elliott is known to run a big large, with some people advising to size down two sizes! I found sizing down one was sufficient.
These are just beautiful jeans, and I hope to find the other colors (grey, regular leopard and the pretty sapphire blue) at some point. I love how the leopard is faded enough to be subtle for those who are timid about printed jeans, and there is still the usual flattering fading in the Fig color itself, so it’s not a flat burgundy color. They are so fun to style! I usually throw on neutrals with printed jeans (I’m still not quite comfortable with putting patterns with patterns although some people somehow manage to pull it off!) and went for this pretty ombre muscle tank from Olivaceous that I got from Coverings in San Luis Obispo, California. These jeans have so much potential…and I laugh at myself when I say that because when Current/Elliott first came out with the leopard jeans, I was totally turned off! I think the Fig and Sapphire colors helped change my mind though, and I’m also hoping to find their Snap Jacket in the Sapphire color as well, which was also out along with the jeans awhile back.
