Jeans: Mavi Tess Super Skinny in Ink Stripe, Top: American Eagle Outfitters Ribbed Mock Neck Bodysuit
I hope you all enjoyed my first review in a long time from Mavi, for their Alissa Super Skinny in Dark Smoke Supersoft! After being so busy with other life happenings, it has been nice to get back to product reviews for all of you. I still currently have several more new Fall denim arrivals from this brand to share. To help new readers catch up, I’ve reviewed several items from Mavi in the past both on my personal blog (check them here and here) and at Denimology (see them here and here), and they are definitely one of my favorite brands to work with and share with my readers! This next review is for the Tess Super Skinny in Ink Stripe, which I have to say is one of my favorite jeans I’ve ever reviewed.
Mavi was founded in 1991 in Istanbul, Turkey and is one of the top premium denim brands in the industry. They are a big favorite of mine because they are always releasing such quality, comfortable jeans at a slightly lower-than-premium price point without sacrificing quality! This brand is definitely a great go-to for essential fits and washes that won’t ever go out of style, and their cuts are so comfortable and super flattering. Mavi knows how to think outside the “essentials” box though and have fun with a few other on-trend styles, which actually still do retain quite a bit of classic appeal on their own! The Tess Super Skinny in Ink Stripe mirrors one of the biggest and most fun trends that comes and goes every year: the racing stripe, or also known as the tuxedo stripe. I never had the chance to try this look, so I was pretty excited to get this sent to me! It’s a look that deviates from your standard denim look, but it still has so many styling possibilities!
Mavi’s Tess Super Skinny in Ink Stripe jeans feature a super dark indigo ink wash with a blue-black tone (they look black in darker lighting situations), finished off with a red and navy grosgrain stripe down the sides. These are not constructed of the Supersoft fabric I highlighted in my last review, but that doesn’t mean they are any less comfortable! Many people still do prefer less-stretchy denim, so at 98% cotton and 2% elastane, these may appeal more to them. However, they aren’t stiff like most non-stretchy denim, and are at a 9 oz weight, so they are still pretty darn soft and move with me pretty well. They also feature a comfortable, non-restricting 10″ front high rise and 14.5″ back rise, and hit me at my ankle which I LOVE, because to me this cut with the tuxedo stripes looks so cool casually dressed with flats or sneakers, but it also works well with heels. It’s more versatile than a casual jean wearer may think! Mavi lists these jeans as having a 10.5″ leg opening, but I feel them to be a little more relaxed than some of the other super skinny styles. I was sent my usual size of 26 and they seem to have relaxed just a little bit and become even more comfortable, but they haven’t softened up so much that they bagged out. They do fit just as they appear on the model on the product page—skinny, but not too hip hugging!
Sometimes it’s fun to try something a little different from time to time and add something new to your wardrobe to open a new box of styling possibilities. If you’ve been looking for something to switch up your denim game with that can stand the test of time and not be too limited to any particular season or occasion, the Tess Super Skinny in Ink Stripe is a great choice. Wear them with your favorite pair of Converse jeans on a trip to the grocery store or pair them with your tallest heels and a pretty black blouse for a night out. These seem to be a hot item, so grab yours before they sell out!
