I know it’s still cold out there…but just wait, summer will be here before you know it! If you’ve been hitting the gym or pavement with new resolutions in mind for the new year, you’re probably already anticipating it. One of the best ways to keep yourself accountable is to start your shopping early for your new favorite swimsuit! Either way, it’s always fun to stock up on new swimwear every year, but sometimes it’s hard to know just which brand to shop for. Swimwear can be expensive, and if you’re me, you’d prefer those dollars to run the extra mile in the sustainability department. Introducing: Earth friendly swimwear by Free Bella.

Stylish New Activewear for your 2018 Resolutions

Stylish New Activewear for your 2018 Resolutions

Image: Revolve

Hello again! I hope everyone had a nice holiday season and some great time with family and friends. I am quite blessed during this time of the year to receive paid time off from my 9-5, and although I could spend that time writing more posts for all of you, I always choose it to relax and take a break from everything. It truly is needed as soon as it comes around! It’s also a great time to reflect on the past year and think about how to start fresh after New Years Day. Many people come up with resolutions, whereas I prefer to keep good habits year round. However, I do like to think about what goals and fun events I plan to reach and attend throughout the next twelve months.

The New AO.LA Jeans by Alice + Olivia

When I’m choosing an interesting new pair or line of jeans to either shop or write about, I’m always looking up the obvious brands: AG Jeans, 7 For All Mankind, Joe’s…you get the idea. I don’t write much about the bigger designer or couture brands, both because of their lack of focus on denim and because their price ranges are a bit far out of my reader’s hands. However, every now and then something new or cool comes out from one of these companies that I just have to share, at least because it’s interesting to see what’s out there! I like all kinds of creativity.

Stay Cozy and Stylish in Faux Fur Jackets this Winter

Around the time the weather gets a bit colder, my shopping attention starts to shift a little bit away from jeans and onto outerwear! Hoodies and jackets are so much fun to shop for around this time, even if I unfortunately don’t get to use them as much as I’d like here in California. It’s been pretty darn cold at night here though, and I’ve already grabbed a supersoft, faux suede and shearling jacket from American Eagle (one of my favorite places to shop). I also love jackets with faux fur trim, but I’m never all that partial to full shaggy faux fur jackets. The only time I really wear a lot of faux fur is at music festivals when it gets cold at night, like those furry hoods you’ve probably seen floating around the internet over the last few years. But, because of that party spirit, I have thought of grabbing myself a fuzzy jacket to bridge the line between festival and real life, much like a lot of the apparel from independent designers I find at festivals, and on Etsy.

High Performance Moto Style by Blanc Noir at Carbon38

Here we go again…more dark fashion awesomeness…totally my kind of thing. As a fitness fanatic, I definitely love that side of the activewear/athleisure industry, as fitness kind of gives an extra bit of badassery to edgier apparel, if you ask me. It also makes this kind of style a lot easier to wear around on a regular basis, since activewear is meant to move with you and stay comfortable, and even wick moisture if you’re wearing it on a hot day. This also makes them prime items to wear out when I’m DJing or attending a late night party! I’m not really into wearing gym clothing on a regular basis, but sometimes, I can make an exception—if it doesn’t exactly look like it’s meant to be in a gym.

Comfortable and Whimsical Footwear by Lola Ramona

I try not to shop too much for footwear these days…I’m sure it comes as no surprise when I say I already have a decent collection! I at least try to look for a variety of purposes when I shop for shoes…quality tall ones for the winter, mid-calf boots to cover up cropped jeans, low booties, black booties, a solid black pair of nice heels, a comfortable pair or two of sneakers (Converse, specifically) and one high top, a variety of different colors and styles of sandals (flat and with heels) for summer…you get the idea! I try to keep to mostly the basics, but it can be tough to discriminate when you run across something that’s SO COOL, even if it looks like something you already have! You gotta have some fun with shopping, too.

The Naturally Dyed Earth Colors Jeans by G-Star RAW

The Naturally Dyed Earth Colors Jeans by G-Star RAW

Image: G-Star RAW

G-Star RAW has been a pretty consistent subject here on my blog. No only are they an impressively high quality, innovative leader in the denim world, but they also take some pretty awesome steps when it comes to sustainability. They are best known by their iconic Elwood 5620 jean, which is constructed in a way you’ve never seen any jean put together before—with 3D detailing and tough but structured and comfortable denim. The brand celebrated the 20th anniversary of this jean last year, and I had the opportunity to review a pair! This wasn’t the first time I had a taste of the Elwood, as I also reviewed a beautiful moto pair, the Custom Slim Tapered, and my first review I ever did for Denimology (or ever), was the G-Star Type C Loose Tapered 3D Jeans. I’ve always enjoyed everything I receive from this incredible brand!

Holiday Break Recap and Favorite Remaining Sales

Holiday Break Recap and Favorite Remaining Sales - Joe's

Image: Joe’s Jeans. Shop through 9pm PST 11/29/2017.

I’m sure it was easy to gather I was M.I.A. because of this past holiday…I figured Thanksgiving would be a great time to take a bit of a break and focus on family and relaxation for a bit. While there were a ton of sales floating around that I usually enjoy posting about, I really didn’t feel much up to it this time. As much as I absolutely love supporting some of my favorite brands, especially the smaller ones, I feel we as a society have placed too much of an importance on holidays for the wrong reasons over the years. It’s funny as a blogger, trying to keep a healthy outlook on consumerism when sometimes it seems that’s all that a style blog is about. But as I’m sure you know by now, I have a true love for all of the amazing advancements in denim as well as the hard-working independent brands that strive to create a more sustainable future and live off their creative passions. Family and time off is also incredibly important, and sometimes it can also be a challenge for me to keep a healthy balance. When I find the opportunity, I realize the need to take advantage of it, and I do!

Shop the Holiday Velvet Trend at American Eagle Outfitters

It’s that time of year again, when temperatures get cooler, people get cozier, and parties bring out the glitz. Luxe fabrics always flood the market this time of year for Christmas and New Years parties, or whatever holiday you might celebrate. Velvet has been a trend every holiday season for the past few years, and I love it. I admit I don’t really have many velvet pieces, but my red velvet flares from BLANKNYC is one of my favorite items in my closet!

Natural Leather Tote Bags for Fall from Etsy

Just like shoes (or jeans, in my case), almost every girl loves to have an assortment of bags for every occasion. It’s hard for someone fashionably creative to settle on just one or two, right? However, as full as a wardrobe may get with bags of every color, style or even brand, one thing holds basically true: just about everyone desires that one solid, quality bag that lasts through years and years, and possibly even gets better with use. As fun as it is to go crazy with collecting multiple styles, sometimes going back to basics is a tasteful move. I personally have my everyday bag (with a few alternatives if I feel like switching it up), a few evening bags to fit different occasions or moods, and some that are best suited for day trips or outdoor adventures like hiking, festivals or the beach.
