SOORTY Zumba Jeans Review on Denimology
Hey all! You might have heard a little bit about this fairly new name called SOORTY, as we’ve been posting about their activity at events and some of their revolutionary denim technologies for several months now. It’s always exciting checking out a new denim brand and presenting it to Denimology readers! Although, SOORTY isn’t exactly your everyday denim brand… I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to receive a pair and experience just how great they are. There are many stretchy, figure hugging, move-with-you denim brands out there that rival activewear and shapewear, but SOORTY is in a league of their own. So without further ado, read on for my SOORTY Zumba Jeans review!
First, a little bit about SOORTY. This brand is actually a denim manufacturer and denim mill located in Pakistan, which caters to international brands such as H&M, Primark, C&A, Mango, Espirit, Zara and more. Their ultimate mission is to observe the best of denim technologies around the world and integrate them together for the most innovative and high quality denim possible, creating a significant effect on international denim markets. One thing that means a lot to me is that SOORTY cares a lot about the environment, and have their own waste water treatment plant so they are as environmentally friendly and efficient as possible! SOORTY founders have over 40 years of denim experience under their belts, and they work tirelessly to always be a step above their goals to become one of the most inspiring and sought-after denim companies out there.
I was given the chance to review SOORTY‘s Zumba jean, which was officially launched at the Amsterdam Kingpins Show on April 15th this year. This jean is made up of an ultra comfortable bi-stretch fabric which allows it to stretch both in length and width for unlimited freedom and to “adapt” to any body shape, and never bag out or lose its shape after several wears and washes. The general idea behind the name and construction is that anyone who wears this jean could easily jump around and join a Zumba fitness class while wearing them! This jean is unique all around, with its texture and appearance being purely authentic to SOORTY and like nothing else out on the market. The Zumba Denim style sent to me is the skinny fit, and once I had it in my hands it was immediately obvious that all the big claims about the fabric quality were true. These are extremely soft, and unlike most stretchy jeans, they have a very durable thickness to them. The wash is a light blue, but it is actually very fashionably beautiful in person, with a really neat marbling effect creating both high and low shades of blue throughout the whole garment. SOORTY kept the detailing pristine yet modest, with no crazy embellishments anywhere…just a leather brand label in the usual area on the back of the waistband, authentic buttons and rivets and a simple, elegant embroidered design on the back pockets. The craftmanship is pretty impressive and easily visible, even the thread color and quality of stitching enhances the overall look of the jeans. When I put them on, I realized immediately I could easily sleep or work out in them. Actually, I ended up wearing them on a long road trip down the California coast, and stayed nice and cozy the whole time! I also ended up with a bit of back pain recently so I wore these to work for several days to stay comfortable so I could get up and do a few deep yoga stretches throughout the day. They worked perfectly! The only thing I’d say is more on my end than on SOORTY’s end…my body shape can be difficult to find the right fit for, and like most jeans, the waistband could have been just a tad tighter. But the best thing about SOORTY is that they are always improving, always taking notes and observing what is going on, which is seriously something that I have high respect for in a denim brand!
The SOORTY Zumba Jeans were launched at just the right time in the denim market, when the athleisure trend is going strong and people are looking for more everyday comfort in their clothing. This jean seriously fits the bill, and I would suggest them to anyone who is looking for something different or who doesn’t always agree with jeans in general. The most common complaint about jeans is that they are restricting and don’t move well enough with you, but the Zumba jean breaks all expectations and I really hope an expect to see this jean making waves around the world very soon!
