STRÖM Tre Crush Selvedge Skinny Review on Denimology

STRÖM Tre Crush Selvedge Skinny Review on Denimology - Front View 2

I’ve said time and time again that I can’t get enough of skinny jeans! Sometimes I feel that there are far more varieties of skinny jeans than any other style…although boyfriend jeans are a close second. Selvedge denim is something I am fairly new with, but already love, and as a contributor at Denimology I am fascinated by how many different varieties there are in the selvedge realm alone. All of the super stretchy jeans out there are a huge favorite of mine due to the fact that they work so amazingly with my body shape, but I know they don’t vibe very well with some denim fans out there…we all have our preferences. However, there is something to be said for the classic cotton denim jean, especially those made from selvedge fabrics, which have a way with molding perfectly to your body over time with wear. I love every jean I review here at Denimology but of course I am always so excited to try out a new selvedge pair! Especially if it’s from a brand that I haven’t yet gotten a chance to try out. So with that said, I now present you my STRÖM Brand Tre Selvedge Skinny Jeans in Crush review!

STRÖM is an American denim brand…born in Sweden, and created in Los Angeles! The brand’s founder, creative director, and designer Erika Strömqvist was born and raise in a rural town in northern Sweden and had significant experience within the avant garde high fashion movement in the early 1990s working with designers Nicolas Ghesquire, Marc Jacobs, Ann Demeulemeester and more. STRÖM excels at selvedge denim, which makes up much of their denim collections each season. The Tre Crush jean has a basic selvedge skinny jean foundation, but accented with slight hand distressing and modest paint stains. When I had these gorgeous jeans in my hands, I immediately noticed how soft the 95% cotton, 4% poly and 1% stretch fabric blend is. These definitely are not your ordinary stretch jeans, as they are made almost entirely of cotton and feel like they are 100% cotton. I love the selvedge detail on the 5th pocket at the hip and of course, like any selvedge jean, I wear the bottoms cuffed to show off the standard hem detail as well. It’s just such a pretty accent, besides what it represents!

These jeans have an 8″ front rise, a 31″ inseam (which is great for me because a slight cuff gives it a cute cropped look) and a true skinny 10.5″ leg opening. Fit wise, they are great! It is tough for me sometimes because I have more of a curvy shape, and jeans often gap in the back of the waistband. These fit comfortably snug at first and did loosen up over about four wears, but only slightly, and actually became much more soft! STRÖM suggests sizing up for a looser fit, but I feel my true size of 26 was perfect. However, I think if you are between sizes, you should definitely size up, since, as mentioned, they are pretty snug at first in order to mold to your curves. The only thing I’d mention is I did wear a belt for the latest few wears, just to keep them secure, because I feel the waistband could have been a bit tighter for my shape. However, I wouldn’t say this would be a problem for all! The hips and legs remained fitted (and soft), just the way I like them. I still really love these jeans and they are so comfortable, and the small amount of paint stains and distressing is just enough to give them a bit of spunk. I also want to mention that the distressing is placed in such a way that you won’t have to worry about knee blowouts, which is one of the bains of my denim fandom existence when it comes to distressed skinny jeans!

As with all distressed jeans, I love wearing the STRÖM Tre Crush jeans with just about any basic top, as the detailing should do the talking, if you ask me. But the selvedge details and gorgeous medium blue wash with beautiful whiskering revealing the darker blue indigo underneath as well as the contrast orange stitching in this pair really gives them an awesome edge with just about any ensemble. On first look I’d see these as a casual jean, but I could see wearing them out to dinner or for a drink juxtaposed with a dressy blouse and killer black heels. As detailed as these jeans are, I feel they are almost like a blank slate…dress them up or down or however you wish…they will still turn heads!
