Being a huge fan of music, I always gravitate to apparel brands that are inspired by rock n’ roll and the like. Just a little over a year ago, you may remember me bringing up Nok Nok, a London-based denim brand that excels in hand-painted denim inspired by “vibrant subcultures mixed with the freedom, hippie vibe and nightlife from Ibiza, the Spanish island in the middle of the Mediterranean sea.” Of course this caught my attention, being a DJ myself and dreaming of making the notorious party capital of Ibiza a vacation destination some day. Angel NokoNoko is the designer behind the brand Nok Nok, and he and his sister Montse are both from Ibiza. Angel is actually an electronic music DJ himself! So, as you can see, I immediately felt like I could relate to this brand.
It’s already that time of the year…where the heck did Halloween go? Screw that, where the hell did 2016 go?! Either way, it’s once again turkey day, and time for some of the best sales of the year. I’m always subscribed to my favorite brands’ and retailers’ newsletters in anticipation for such things, and just like I do every time, I figured I would share my favorites with you. There’s definitely far too many out there to include all here, but these are the first that I have seen, and I will be adding any new ones that pop up to this list as the week goes on! So whether you plan to party, to shop, or just relax and eat to your heart’s content this turkey day, here are some choice sales just in case you catch a bit of the shopping bug over the holiday. Happy Thanksgiving!
I’ve been a huge fan and dedicated wearer of American Eagle Outfitters since the beginning of my college years…and nothing much has changed. Unless you count how much the brand has evolved since then! Back in those days, it was about the fictional graphic tees and sheer tops. Those were all excellent, but with the introduction of more minimalist, modern pieces within their Don’t Ask Why sub-label, as well as kicking ass in the denim department and competing with their premium counterparts with the Denim X line (and some beautiful new detailing), you could say the brand has grown up and expanded their demographic to just about all ages! So, it’s really hard to quit this brand. I’m not sure if I ever really will.
It’s finally jacket season (well almost, if we’re lucky…if you live in California like me), and one of the things I like shopping just as much as jeans or handbags are jackets. There are so many awesome ones out there! Too bad they take up so much space in my closet and only last a season or two here, or I’d have many more than I do now. Either way, it’s still cool to see (and covet) all the neat ones that come out every Fall. Right now, the bomber jacket seems to have taken center stage along with the classic leather moto. However, this year, I’ve never seen so many fun styles such as embroidery and sporty or flower accents!
One of my all time favorite retailers (which I just can’t seem to “grow out” of), American Eagle Outfitters, has released their own little bomber jacket collection. One of the reasons why AEO has stuck with me for so long is their great variety of modern, simple and classy styles that span just about all ages, and many of these bombers fit that bill. Bombers aren’t usually my style, but these are so cool while being grown up at the same time that they got me thinking! I have my eyes on the AEO Reversible Bomber Jacket shown above and on the last photo below! Floral isn’t usually my favorite print, but there’s something about this one that I find super cute. I hadn’t ever seen longer length bombers, like the AEO Longer Length Bomber Jacket which I find pretty great (I dig the burgundy color). Also on trend is customization, and American Eagle encourages all to “rip it, patch it, and make it your own.” That’s right up my alley! See all the available styles below.

It’s yet another long weekend, and yet another great round of sales! I plan to spend my next few days resting, going to a few concerts and clubs in Hollywood, and spending time with friends. I’m fortunate to live in California where it’s going to be nice and warm all weekend, but I know some parts the country have some inclement weather looming overhead…and I’m sure if I lived in those areas I’d be more inclined to stay at home shopping! Whatever you plan to do this weekend, if you are aching for a new pair of jeans, I’ve put together some of the best premium denim sales I could find. Enjoy, and be safe!
Flares are really growing on me. The raw hem thing doesn’t hurt either!! This is the AGOLDE Madison 70s Flare in Starwood Distressed that I recently received for a Denimology review, and I am absolutely loving them. I wore them with a black lace headband from CVS, my Lucky Brand Whipstitch bag (yet another eBay score) and a crop tee I got from American Eagle Outfitters last year to showcase my high rise jeans during product reviews. I had so much fun with this shoot! My hubby and I ran out as quickly as we could after work to catch the sun before it went down in a local park, and the light was just perfect. Vintage looks are so in right now and although I don’t yet have any true vintage jeans, I love the vibe and suddenly my skinny jeans are getting some decent competition!
The Joe’s Finn and AEO Tie Dye
Another warm day at work…but not too warm to wear one of my favorite pairs of jeans I got recently from Joe’s! The black skinny with knee rips thing somehow got super huge all of a sudden, and although I don’t usually care for trend following, I fell for this one. The Joe’s Finn in Regan are super soft, the denim fabric is stretchy enough that the holes won’t break open further, and I’m digging the cherry on top: the raw hem! This Soft & Sexy Muscle Tee from American Eagle is indeed soft, and loose fitting enough for the warm weather. I’m wearing an organic bra from Nomad’s Hempwear since it looks stylish enough and not much like a bra when it peeks through. The wrap is from Lucky Brand that I grabbed for $10 with a recent sale they had (yeah really!). I’m a huge fan of wraps and they are just perfect to stay just a little warm in the mornings during this super hot California summer before it warms up as the day goes on. I just love how all of these colors come together! And don’t mind my ugly feet…I need a damn pedicure…

Summer Days with AEO and G-Star RAW
I’m pretty sure I’m not alone when I say I love the longer days that come along with the summertime…they give me plenty of time after work to get some shots taken for the two blogs I run! I had these shots taken a few weeks ago for a Denimology review but I was just too stoked on this new Soft & Sexy Cold Shoulder tee from American Eagle Outfitters and G-Star RAW 5620 Elwood Ultra High Waist Skinny in Medium Aged. I’ve been a fan of AEO for a long time now but recently I’ve fallen back in love with them thanks to their newest supersoft tees and Don’t Ask Why collection which was a smart move on their part…it helped spread their demographic across a wider age range.
Black and Olive Earth Tones
It’s funny, I was just going to call this “Distressing and Stripes,” and realized there was a pattern here…I had already named a post that last August (see here)! I guess I have a subconscious style preference. Anyway, two of my favorite pieces here are my black Alternative cardigan I got years ago and Level 99 Tanya in Crawford jeans, which are a deliciously soft high rise that just go with freaking everything. I just got this Long Sleeve Striped Pullover in Olivine (similar here) by Splendid from Hautelook (one of my favorite online haunts). This is my first item from Splendid, finally, and it definitely lives up to all my expectations! Olive is one of my favorite colors, and this Olivine shade is so pretty. The stripes are a navy blue color too, although they look black in these photos. I always like keeping contrast up with my outfits by wearing something black, but this time I went almost all black with one olive green piece to break it up. The boots are the Lace Up Quilted boot from American Eagle Outfitters (another similar one here), and I’ve been wearing them around to break them in for festival season (can’t wait)! My necklace is made from jasper, onyx and pyrite beads from Midwinter Co., one of my favorite jewelers. I love how well olive green and black go together!
Tailor Free Options for Jeans with Short Inseams
Ever since my obsession with denim went viral within my network of acquaintances and friends and their friends, I’m constantly asked for suggestions for the perfect jeans for certain body shapes, heights, fabric content preferences…you name it. And I love it! As silly as it might sound for me to say I’m happy to be some sort of denim guru, I am. Either way, I love to be of help with something I’m passionate about! The most common question is in regards to the best jeans for curvier body types. Fortunately, the denim industry has listened over the years, and my go-tos when asked this question are the Lovestory flare by J Brand, The Honey Bootcut from Joe’s Jeans, just about anything from American Eagle Outfitters, Parker Smith, and the Kimmie (Bootcut and Straight) from 7 For All Mankind. Other brands continue to add more to their already-amazing rosters. However, there’s still one issue that has yet to be widely addressed: shorter inseams! Fortunately American Eagle offers length options, as does Bluer and AYR (in their skinny and slim cuts), but what about those who require inseams under 30″? I’m fortunately a 32-33″ but that seems to be the baseline…even 7 For All Mankind’s much-welcomed Tailorless line stops there. I still see a market lacking for the shorter peeps! Even more so, for the shorter and curvier souls who are constantly frustrated in the never ending hunt for the perfect pair of jeans.
