17 Printed Jeans from Shopbop to Spice Up Your Wardrobe

Being as obsessed with denim as I am, and having reviewed denim for Denimology and this blog since 2014, I have many denim styles. Of course, the classic blue jean takes up most of them since it’s the most common (and let me say, there’s still a ton of variety), as well as my all time absolute favorite wash, faded black. However, sometimes it’s fun to shake it up a little with a statement piece! Usually the thought of a chunky piece of sparkly jewelry pops up when thinking of such a thing, or maybe some eye catching heels. For me though, I often opt for a fun pair of printed jeans as something different to spice up an outfit when I feel like I’m in a style rut!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas/Holiday/whateveryoucelebrate! I was pretty exhausted after making my rounds through all of the family festivities over the last few days, including a run to Six Flags Magic Mountain, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! Initially I wanted to focus on the true meaning of Christmas in my last post (family, community, camaraderie), but now that it’s all over, why not attack a few denim sales? There are a few good ones going around right now!! James Jeans is not only offering a special $49.99 collection of some of their best styles, but also a sitewide 30% off and extra 20% off sale deal. Denim After Dark by Closed

I’ve always seen Closed as one of those brands that knows how to be simple, clean, and classic, with a few completely unique looks thrown in their collections for good measure. Take the Pedal Star Patchwork Jeans I reviewed not long ago…it’s definitely a look I haven’t seen anywhere else. But upon first impression when browsing their site, they seem to be a minimalist brand, with their clean blouses, knits, and pants, for example. Perfect silhouettes for all ages. The most recent Closed collection, Denim After Dark, beautifully combines simplicity with innovation, pairing Italian denim with satin and genuine leather for perfect evening looks. Included in this collection are a few blouses, sweaters and a clutch to round it all out and complete the look.

I love the look of black leather with black denim! I have to say I’m craving the Coated Cotton Cardigan though. It’s got the right amount of class and the right amount of moto. All of these looks are so awesomely balanced with edge and class! I definitely dig the Black Denim Dress, as well as the jeans (of course), too.

These blouses and sweaters would also be great for work. I’m thinking the blouses would pair well with some tight black skinnies or leggings, under a blazer as pictured, and the sweaters would be cute with a short pencil skirt and have the right amount of metallic touch for a holiday party!

Closed Pedal Star Patchwork Denim Pants Review on Denimology

As the denim world evolves, we see styles come and go…skinny is in, skinny is out…bootcut is in…no, bootcut is out again and now high-waisted flares are in…wait no, skinny is trying to come back in but they aren’t skinny enough so welcome to the jegging…and so on, and so on. I’ve noticed the industry get rather creative over the last several years, with styles such as printed denim, different variations of existing cuts, textured denim…you catch my drift. One style that seemed to grab the industry by the cajones was patchwork denim, coming on strong and showing it wasn’t planning on fading away anytime soon. Most patchwork denim didn’t really resonate with me all that well, since it all seemed pretty consistent and I just simply wasn’t much of a fan of the look, until Closed came along with their own rendition of the trend. You may have seen my editorial on it awhile back! With that said, today I am stoked to bring you a Closed Pedal Star Patchwork Denim Pants review!

Closed Striped Patchwork Jeans At My Doorstep

Closed Patchwork Jeans

So I blogged about these not long ago as well as some of their zipped styles…then again on Denimology, and now I have them in my hands courtesy of the brand! Sweet! I cannot wait to review these! They are so much fun! I wasn’t sure if I wanted to wear them all day at work (since sitting in a chair for hours on end might end up proving uncomfortable with all the seams inside the legs) but they are more comfortable than they look. I’m going to wear them out and about to see how they hold up and then write up a Denimology review! The jeans also came with a beautifully bound lookbook and huge magazine-style catalog showing beautiful model shots, the details of several intricate denim finishing processes (lasering, sand blasting, hand-finishing, etc, it’s fascinating), places to visit in Frankfurt and much more…Closed was born in Italy in 1978, but currently resides in Germany. It’s obvious they put a lot of thought into what they do.

Closed has already pulled me in. I am a fan! Check out some of their other styles below that I am currently eyeing.

The patchwork denim trend is one that I haven’t yet dived into…I love its creative look, but I just haven’t yet seen any styles that suit my fancy. Just like when boyfriend jeans first hit the market, I wasn’t immediately sold but now I love myself a good pair (favorite being Rich & Skinny’s boyfriend in Twilight Vintage that came out years ago!)! I love the potential I see in patchwork denim. I love contrasting, blocky solid colors and thrive on creativity and styles that break the mold. During my regular perusal of various brands’ current denim lines, I found an interesting take on the patchwork trend from Closed. Closed began in 1978 in Italy but is now based in Germany, although most manufacturing is done in Italy today. These jeans are 90% Cotton, 6% Polyester, 4% Elasthane, so I bet they also make for a great, soft, form-fitting fit. Closed does striped patchwork…I think I could dig this!
