A Casual Evening in STRÖM Brand

A Casual Evening in STRÖM Brand

I’m still loving these longer summer days, but as we get nearer to Fall, I’m definitely noticing we’re having to rush out of work more often to catch a quick shoot before the sun goes down! It’s definitely tougher to keep up with the blog and Denimology reviews in the winter time because of this. Photos always look better in the early evenings due to less brightness and shadows, so it’s not like weekends can all be used for catch up. Either way, we bloggers do what we gotta do!

Birthday Recap of my Shiniest Moments in Blogging

Well it’s that time again, when I stop and think in disbelief how fast the time has gone…and how the hell I’m already one year (or two or three or…heck, 10) years older. It’s definitely scary how our relative perception of time gets shorter as we get older compared to how many years we’ve lived, making it feel like time is speeding up. At least, that’s the theory I’ve read and tend to believe. What’s hard to believe though, is that I even got into this blogging business to begin with. Only a few years ago it was just a fleeting thought with no plans to even bring it into fruition—the last time I had even attempted to start a blog was on Blogger in 2009 when I thought I would document the planning of my wedding. I did squeeze a few denim-related posts in here and there but only had one follower (my fiancé’s sister) and I just didn’t feel a drive, passion or motivation in general to continue beyond only a handful of posts. That probably lasted about three or four months. Perhaps I wasn’t as well rehearsed on how to promote a blog—social media was already a strong point of mine, as was networking and web development, but I definitely didn’t know as much about marketing or how to properly promote posts cross-platform as I do now.

Win a Pair of PRPS Raw Selvedge Jeans at Denimology

I haven’t posted a lot about it, as it is still fairly new to me and I’m working on breaking in a couple of my own pairs, but raw, selvedge denim is usually seen as the jean of the discerning denim connoisseur. Unlike most jeans on the market, they are basically untreated and unwashed, allowing wearers to break them in and earn those fades and distressing on their own, for a custom look that represents their lifestyles! Selvedge denim is just as, if not more, coveted, as it is a higher quality fabric created on vintage looms, retaining the striped “self edge” of the fabric sheet which an be seen on the outer cuffs and oftentimes the 5th pocket (you can see me sporting a selvedge pair by Levi’s here, by Cult of Individuality here, and by STRÖM here). A good pair of raw selvedge jeans is the ultimate, quality piece for denim fans everywhere, and PRPS is a leader in some of the best raw and selvedge denim around! The PRPS raw line is truly coveted around the world, as the fabric, manufacturing and washing is done in Japan…the capitol of raw denim. If you have been dying to break in your own pair of premium raw denim, now is your chance to get your hands on a pair! Denimology and PRPS have partnered up to offer an exclusive pair of PRPS Noir Japanese Raw Selvedge denim, which is not available in any store. This is a prized piece to wear with pride!

SOORTY Denim VIP Jeans in Freja Review on Denimology - Front View

Plaid Top: American Eagle Outfitters (Similar here), Shoes: Nine West (Similar here and here), Necklace: Third Eye Pinecones

I can’t ever get tired of reviewing jeans for particular brands, but it’s fun to shake it up a bit from time to time…especially when it comes to reviewing jeans from a denim mill that supplies jeans to the brands I know and love! SOORTY is one of those, and this is my second review for them. They actually custom made this pair of jeans to my measurements for review purposes! It’s easy to go shopping around and sporting our favorite pieces from our favorite brands constantly, but I like to take it a step further with anything I’m passionate about and learn about how they are made, and about the source! So read on for my SOORTY Denim VIP Jeans in Freja review.

Joe’s Eco Friendly Cigarette in Shayla Review on Denimology

Joe’s Eco Friendly Cigarette in Shayla Review on Denimology

I always enjoy reviewing Joe’s because I already know I’m going to just love whatever is sent to me! They are always so soft and figure-flattering and I never really need a belt with them. Their vintage looks are so top notch and add such a cool appeal to any outfit. The brand is always on top of it, constantly coming out with new innovative collections that cater to a season, consumer demand, or even to a particular technology. I love seeing what Joe’s is going to churn out next, and I was so so excited to see them come out with a new eco-friendly denim line which only makes perfect sense with today’s growing awareness of conservation issues! Sustainable fashion is definitely a huge thing for me. I actually just wrote about this new eco conscious line (see post here) and now I’m stoked to share this review with all of you! I am also wearing a new favorite necklace from a new favorite independent artisan, Third Eye Pinecones, which I wrote about last month (see post here)!

Etienne Marcel Skinny with Side Zip in Khaki Review on Denimology

I love reviewing all denim, and somehow can never tire of the classic blue wash jean, but I am always so excited to discover and try new designs and washes from time to time! I had heard of Etienne Marcel denim from a local boutique, then later from a past review for the Skinny in Javel done by a previous Denimology reviewer. As a big fan of zippers and other hardware details, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a pair of jeans from this brand, which was born in 2011 and modeled after the fashion forward streets of Europe. The Paris-based design team studies the materials of the best innovators in fashion and style around the globe (especially from Italy, France and Japan) to ensure the highest quality possible.

Joe’s Flawless Cupro Colors The Vixen Ankle Review on Denimology

I’m so happy to once again have the chance to review Joe’s Jeans, which is one of those brands that definitely needs no huge introduction. Women everywhere have loved this brand for its impeccable fits for both slim and curvy shapes, and I’ll always vouch for the impressive durability regarding fabric thickness and overall feel. For those who don’t like a ton of stretch in their jeans, Joe’s is always a great choice. For those that do, and appreciate the flattering ability for stretch jeans to hold and tuck you in while smoothing you out, Joe’s now has a new denim fabric called Flawless, which does just that! This shaping fabric is applied to many much-loved Joe’s cuts, like the Charlie and Provocateur skinny and bootcut fits, Mustang and Vixen skinnies, Cigarette, Honey Flare and Bootcut, and more! Joe’s has also released a new collection within the Vixen Ankle style, called Cupro Colors for Fall. This collection is made up of four perfectly earthy autumn tones! For this review I am actually presenting both of these new releases for Joe’s, so without much more, here’s my Joe’s Flawless Cupro Colors The Vixen Ankle in Mustang review!

STRÖM Tre Crush Selvedge Skinny Review on Denimology

STRÖM Tre Crush Selvedge Skinny Review on Denimology - Front View 2

I’ve said time and time again that I can’t get enough of skinny jeans! Sometimes I feel that there are far more varieties of skinny jeans than any other style…although boyfriend jeans are a close second. Selvedge denim is something I am fairly new with, but already love, and as a contributor at Denimology I am fascinated by how many different varieties there are in the selvedge realm alone. All of the super stretchy jeans out there are a huge favorite of mine due to the fact that they work so amazingly with my body shape, but I know they don’t vibe very well with some denim fans out there…we all have our preferences. However, there is something to be said for the classic cotton denim jean, especially those made from selvedge fabrics, which have a way with molding perfectly to your body over time with wear. I love every jean I review here at Denimology but of course I am always so excited to try out a new selvedge pair! Especially if it’s from a brand that I haven’t yet gotten a chance to try out. So with that said, I now present you my STRÖM Brand Tre Selvedge Skinny Jeans in Crush review!

SCHOEN by YU The Muse Cuffed Review on Denimology

SCHOEN by YU The Muse Cuffed Review on Denimology

Dark blue skinnies. Of all the jeans I’ve reviewed here at Denimology, I think this has become my signature style. I feel blessed enough to be able to experience the multitude of different ways this seemingly-basic style can be designed, constructed and presented, and it certainly is enough to keep my riveted! It never gets old to me. But of course, I’m always on the lookout for that one dark blue skinny that really stands out…I can always trust the large, tried-and-true, household-name brands to produce a pair that I know I’ll love, but I really am more fascinated by what’s next, what new company will come out with a game changer next week, next month or next year. We all know the big guys can deliver, but what about those fighting against the grain in the already-competitive industry? Well, I’ve found the next big thing. So, I’m super stoked to share this next installment in my denim-obsessed life with you: a SCHOEN by YU The Muse Cuffed review!
