Diego Milano S/S Number 019 Review on Denimology

I fell in love with jeans for the sole reason that not only does the perfect pair make you feel oh-so-good, but also because it’s amazing how something that the general public sees as just a basic item can be so colorful in its market, with so many different innovations and awesome examples of boundless creativity. The jean is not just your run of the mill jean anymore, and it hasn’t been for a long, long time. Fit is always a competitive aspect, as well as fabric content, wash, and general look or trend and the pool of options is exploding every season with impressive new ideas. When it comes to fabric content and embellishments, some brands take it to another level, traveling to the farthest reaches of the world to discover new fibers or materials to give their product the winning edge. I’m not usually a big fan of too much flair, but blending in elements that seem to be made for each other, like leather and denim, is something I’ve seen here and there in the denim world and been intrigued by. Recently I posted about the amazingness that is Diego Milano denim, and I am so excited that I got a chance to check them out, up close and personal! Usually leather is sewn in to denim in a riding pant style, or as some kind of paneling, and Diego Milano excels beautifully at this, and then some!

Parker Smith Ava Skinny in Abstract Mint Review on Denimology

I am a HUGE fan of jeans that are painted, patterned, printed, textured…you get me. Not many things can replace the classic blue jean, but there is something awesome about a jean with several different colors or a unique pattern or print in terms of its unexpected level of versatility. Not many are well rehearsed in how to style them, and I wasn’t either, until about a year or two ago. I’ve developed quite a fondness for them and realized that they actually do have a multitude of possibilities! I think I have more fun styling them then I do with a traditional jean! When I was presented with another chance to review a pair from the perfectly classic brand Parker Smith, I was immediately drawn to a pair that I didn’t expect to find amongst their other jeans which have been favorites of mine on their own for many years. So here we go with this next pair I’d love to share with you…here’s a Parker Smith Ava Skinny in Abstract Mint review!

Denim Expert BlueXonly Painted Jeans Review on Denimology

I’m a complete sucker for a beautiful, classic blue jean…it almost seems like no matter what this traditional wash never gets old and I am constantly pleased with every style I try on because every jean is unique in its own awesome way. However, something I’ve picked up on a lot lately are the not so traditional pairs…the printed, textured, patterned, painted or the colored jeans. The warmer months of spring and summer are ideal times for super colorful jeans as everyone’s moods are lifted by the longer, brighter days! We’ve all seen solid colors, we’ve seen ombre, tie dye, and paint splattered jeans, but I have something really unique here…so lets get right to it. Here is a Denim Expert BlueXonly Straight Painted Jeans review!

Win a Pair of Marc Allison Jeans on Denimology

Win a Pair of Marc Allison Jeans on Denimology

We’ve been ranting and raving a lot over at Denimology about Marc Allison…out of all the fast-growing denim brands out there, they are definitely one of the few in the front of the pack! I’ve done a couple of reviews for them and I am always aching to try out more of their luxuriously soft, durable denim that never ever stretches out and fits you like a darn glove! As a refresher, Marc Allison is a Los Angeles brand, founded in 2009 by husband-wife team Marc and Allison Flashberg. Flashberg previously accumulated 30+ years of experience working with other premium labels which definitely contributed to his new impressive brand! Marc Allison Jeans incorporates X-Fit stretch and Supima cotton for a truly impeccable fit and feel that won’t bag out or stretch. I remember these jeans quickly became a celebrity favorite because of this “T400” technology (which he developed with Invista, a global producer of polymer and fibers, to create a yarn that stretches in all directions) that offers four-way stretch with excellent comfort and recovery that moves with the body like a dream.

AYR Skinny Flare in Jac’s Jean Review on Denimology

AYR Skinny Flare in Jac's Jean Review on Denimology - Candid View

For those who might have been following my reviews, you can tell I love skinnies. However, I’m falling hard for flares, which are this season’s fit. What’s a girl to do? If only someone would come up with a combination of the two…oh wait. Hello, AYR! This new-ish brand blew up last year and has been a favorite of mine since. I am very happy to revisit their amazing jeans! Hudson has the Baby Boot, Joe’s had a skinny micro flare, which was very similar to American Eagle Outfitter’s Skinny Kick jean—skinny all the way down to the bottom of the calf with a slight flare at the bottom. AYR though, I think has mastered the fit, keeping it skinny but very much flare! I could write the entire review in my first paragraph here, but I won’t…read on for an AYR Skinny Flare in Jac’s Jean review!

They still make for about 80% of my denim collection! I am always excited to see how many different ways the denim industry can throw me a skinny jean, and I just can’t tire of it. This time around I am stoked to feature a skinny jean from a brand that has recently started gracing the pages of Denimology, coming all the way from Bangladesh! Marc Allison Shirl Classic Bell Review on Denimology

Marc Allison Shirl Classic Bell Review on Denimology

Flares flares flares. They’re all in this season! I don’t own many, since length is always a difficult factor for them, as it also is with bootcuts. But oh boy do they make your legs look long if you wear a longer inseam with heels! They are definitely a fun style, and they’ve been popping up everywhere this Spring as you might have noticed. I was turned on to the style several years back with a pair of Rich & Skinny‘s Belissima, and I wear them exclusively for dinner dates and other fancy occasions! Not only are they a fun, classic 70s style, but they can also be ultra flattering, giving your legs and overall frame an hourglass-like appeal. I personally wear mostly skinny jeans, since they work with everything and all shoe heights, and I like form-fitting apparel, so I haven’t acquired another pair of flares since my Rich & Skinnys. Recently though, we’ve gotten back in touch with the amazing Marc Allison Jeans, for whom I did a review for last year. One of their styles I was eyeing when I first discovered them many years ago was the flare. So, I’m excited to present to you this Marc Allison Shirl Classic Bell in New Vintage review!

Today is Denim Day 2015

Today is Denim Day 2015 - Campaign Poster

Today is Denim Day 2015

The year was 1992, someplace in Italy. A 45 year old driving instructor was convicted with the rape of his 18 year old student, and sentenced. However, in 1998, the Italian Supreme Court overturned the conviction. Why? The victim happened to be wearing tight jeans…so tight, that she most have aided her attacker in removing them in order for this assault to take place, thus making it consensual. In protest, the women of the Italian Parliament wore jeans to work the next day. For 15 years, Peace over Violence has run a campaign in response to this incident every April (for Sexual Violence Awareness Month) on a Wednesday, titled Denim Day, asking participants around the U.S.A. to wear jeans in support against destructive and wrong attitudes towards sexual assault. This year, this important day is TODAY, April 29th. I’m a big fan of jeans obviously, and tight ones at that, so you could say every day is Denim Day for me. You can bet I’ve got mine on today! Rock those babies proudly, gals, and guys too! You can also donate and register your participation at the Denim Day website.

Cult of Individuality Alter Ego Boyfriend on Denimology

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Denimology review (mainly because we’ve had some changes in the works) but I’m back up and at ’em with something fresh and new! As you might have been able to tell by now, I love me a nice sleek (and usually dark) skinny jean, but this Spring season we’ve seen a re-emergence of looser fitting styles such as boyfriends, flares, and bootcuts. The boyfriend jean has been around for a long time but it has its ups and downs in the industry…but right now, this style is being seen everywhere in a wide variety of distressed looks on celebrities and trendsetter everywhere! I get so addicted to my skinny jeans sometimes that I never think I can go looser, but once I do, I’m reminded how comfortable boyfriend jeans really are and how stylish they really can be if done right. For this review I am excited to revisit a really neat edgy brand that I worked with last year for Denimology to illustrate how underestimated the boyfriend jean really is, so here’s a Cult of Individuality Alter Ego Boyfriend in Yukon review!
