I’m not usually big on patterns—I like block colors and solids for the most part, with the occasional logos. I know leopard print has been huge for a long time, but it took me awhile for it to rub off on me. I thought it made it look too much like I was fresh off a safari or jungle cruise! I wasn’t fond of the wild side feel, although I know I liked edgy styles. I think I can credit those all-too-cool Current Elliott leopard jeans that were popular years ago for tipping me over the edge. Again though, I wasn’t partial to them at first, but the subtle print with a colored background caught my eye. I had to have them! Animal prints come and go, but they seem to be turning into all the rage for the Fall. I am not one to follow trends either, but I can dig some of the unique looks that are making animal print look fun to style. Leopard, zebra, snakeprint—I’ve definitely got my eyes on a few animal print pieces for Fall and am already thinking of styling ideas!
I remember my favorite backpacks back in high school. I would deck them out in all kinds of patches, sew trinkets on them, hang as many keychains as I could on the zipper pulls and write the names of my favorite bands (and the dates I finally saw them live) all over them with a whiteout pen. Jansport still rocks, but we’ve come a long way since then (and those little mini low-slung backpacks that came out in the mid ’90s). The backpack as we knew it has been modernized over the years as a legit alternative to the handbag, made in all kinds of materials from the usual canvas to swanky leather. I personally have been eyeing the Rebecca Minkoff Mini M.A.B. backpack for a few months (which is going to have to be another eBay score). It’s the piece that turned me on to the idea of carrying a nice leather backpack for day trips…or just because! Shopbop has put together a cute little collection of some of the best backpacks they have to offer, and they certainly are all eye candy. Would you carry any of them? The leather ones are beautiful! Here are some of my favorites.
“In luxe materials and modern colors, the schoolyard staple is all grown up (and as practical as ever).”

Current Handbag Cravings
So this is one of those random posts that I’m inspired by a just-as-random internet window shopping fest…not really focused on anything in particular other than sharing some items that have currently caught my eye! Handbags and shoes are some of the most fun items to shop for, since they each have the ability of giving an entirely different look to an outfit. How that works is beyond me, but who cares…not many of us can resist a pretty, sparkly new (and functional) bag to make our everyday lives just that much more convenient, fun, and stylish. I am a big fan of both Rebecca Minkoff and Tory Burch, due to their classic, refined, yet eye-catching styles (Throw Mark Jacobs and the clean leather Coach styles in there too…but that’s for another post!). I recently saw a blog post from PurseBlog discussing National Handbag Day at Bloomingdales on 10/10/14, and the accompanying pop-up shop. This is where I discovered the beautifully vibrant cobalt blue Tory Burch Robinson Micro Double Zip Tote, which is a Bloomingdales exclusive! A Piperlime newsletter brought this gorgeous Rebecca Minkoff Amorous Satchel in Black Cherry to my eye. I LOVE a dark burgundy color, and it’s perfect for the Fall months upon us!
CJ by Cookie Johnson Joy Pigment Coated Legging Review on Denimology
As you may have noticed, I’m fairly consistent with my reviews of dark skinny jeans on Denimology. Hey, I love them! But, every now and then I get super excited to review something edgy and new. Whenever I hit the nightlife (to party or to DJ), I take the chance to let out my darker or more creative side out, whichever fits my mood. I’ll usually rock something with studs, lots of black obviously, maybe a fedora, my new black and white striped and studded Rebecca Minkoff bag, my favorite Michael Michael Kors black oxford heels, and definitely something more extravagant in the jeans department. So I see this Denimology installment as something really cool and different. I haven’t had a chance to review any coated jeans, nor have I ever owned any, so I am excited to present this CJ by Cookie Johnson Joy Pigment Coated Legging in Cherry Wine review!
