The Vegan Leather Flare by Blank NYC
Leather pants are a classic…mostly in a rock star sense if you ask me. I remember wanting a pair for myself during my high school punk band days, but being turned down by my parents because of the high price tag! I finally snagged two pleather pants from Hot Topic, but then rarely wore them because they were so cold in the mornings and sweaty in the afternoons (then of course cold again in the evenings from all that sweat). The awesome look of the leather pant seems to have far outlived the actual leather pant trend (although from my perspective they do still exist in smaller numbers), probably because of that price, the rise in ecological concerns and veganism, lack of breathability as well as that heavy feel that leather items tend to give (also, how do you wash them?? Dry cleaners??). Several ways of mimicking the look of leather emerged from the fashion world, like coated denim, which I STILL have yet to try (yes, this denim obsessed lady needs to get. on. it.), which were usually done with skinny jeans. Blank NYC has recently kept up the vegan leather style with skinnies, but with flares as well, with the Pull On Vegan Leather Flare in Pussycat!
Blank NYC is well known for a wide range of both edgy and classic denim styles at a slightly-lower-than-premium price point without sacrificing much quality. I have a comfy pair of burgundy jeggings and an AWESOME pair of black cargo pants that I remember scouring the entire internet for when skinny cargos gained popularity again and none of the premium brand versions impressed me much. They held their own amongst the big dogs! I don’t know about you, but to me, these flares are pretty eye-catching and unique! I haven’t seen anything that resembles leather in the form of flares since well, hair metal. I still am not sure about the breathability of these things (they are 60% Polyester, 40% Viscose), so I’m not sure if I’d rock them (although it would be so much fun to try), but they seem to have a ton of great reviews from when they were an exclusive Shopbop item! Blank NYC just re-released them on their own website. These babies are pull on, so they have no zip fly, so I’d imagine they are pretty form fitting and snug, especially with the 8″ rise! Both hip pockets are faux and they feature two back pockets, like any pair of jeans would. With a 35″ inseam, I could see these being pretty flattering, as high-waisted flares can be, when worn long with heels! I love styling outfits with contrast, so I would probably wear these with a flowery top or pastel blouse (when normally you wouldn’t really see me in either, but they’d balance out well with these rock-worthy duds).

For those that like the style, but aren’t sure about the fabric content, I also found a lightweight stretch denim version here, at a slightly lower price too!
